Model’s wardrobe mishap sparks praise online for smashing taboos around menstruation
American model Brooks Nader found herself at the center of unexpected attention on July 4 — and not for the reasons you’d expect from a Wimbledon appearance.
The 28-year-old Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover star bled through her white midi skirt while attending day five of the Wimbledon Championships, and instead of hiding it, she owned it — on TikTok, no less.
“Of course 🎾,” Nader captioned a now-viral video showing a red stain on her skirt. “Tried to be chic, started my period at Wimbledon,” she quipped, flipping her hair as if nothing happened.
The clip opens with Nader smiling for the camera in a sleek polka-dot top and blowout-ready hair. But things take a turn when she flips the lens to show friends making mock-shocked faces. Seconds later, she turns to reveal the culprit: a small period stain on her pristine white outfit.

Social media erupted — not with mockery, but applause.
“You’re so real for this,” one commenter said. Another added: “A canon event for all us girlies.”
Others praised Nader for helping normalize a common experience that’s often shamed or silenced. “Every girl has had this happen 😭,” one user wrote.
Breaking Taboos in Style
The moment was unfiltered, authentic, and — for many young women — deeply relatable. Nader, known for her glam photoshoots and red carpet presence, struck a nerve with viewers by showing that even models have to deal with real life.
“Brooks didn’t just bleed through her skirt — she broke a wall down,” said pop culture writer Alexis Reade. “Periods are still weirdly taboo in public spaces. Seeing someone famous casually post about it? That’s revolutionary.”
What’s Next for Nader?
This viral moment comes as Nader gears up for her biggest summer yet. Alongside her three model sisters — Mary Holland, Grace Ann, and Sarah Jane — she’ll star in Love Thy Nader, a Hulu and Freeform docuseries following the sisters’ move from small-town Louisiana to the bright lights of NYC’s fashion scene.
It’s not the first time Nader has made headlines beyond the catwalk. Last year, she competed on Dancing with the Stars with pro Gleb Savchenko. The duo made waves on and off the dancefloor, sparking romance rumors before quietly splitting in April amid cheating suspicions, according to sources close to Nader. (Savchenko’s camp declined to comment.)
But if this week proved anything, it’s that Brooks Nader doesn’t sweat a little scandal — or a little blood.
“She made a fashion mishap feel like a moment of empowerment,” one fan said. “She’s not just a model — she’s a role model.”
Period stains at Wimbledon? Welcome to 2025. We’re done pretending they don’t happen.
