Tucker Carlson Turns on Trump, Says He Should Be Removed ‘Immediately’ If He Considers Using Nukes

Tucker Carlson is escalating his public break with Donald Trump, declaring that any president who seriously considers launching a nuclear weapon should be removed from office “immediately.”

The former Fox News host unleashed the stunning criticism during an Aug. 28 episode of his YouTube show, where he discussed Trump’s increasingly aggressive rhetoric toward Iran with former Trump counterterrorism official Joe Kent.

Carlson, 57, stressed that he has hardly been a longtime member of the anti-Trump resistance.

“I was opposed to impeachment, the two impeachment attempts against Trump. Strongly opposed,” Carlson said. “The whole thing was absurd. I believe in stability. I think elected leaders should serve out their terms. I don’t hate Trump personally.”

But Carlson said there is one line he believes no president can be allowed to cross.

“The second any president actively considers first use of nuclear weapons, that person should be removed from office immediately,” Carlson said, calling nuclear warfare a potential path toward “destroying all of humanity.”

“That’s got to be the red line,” he added.

Carlson then questioned why there has not been a louder political uproar over Trump’s rhetoric toward Iran.

“So why isn’t there an attempt to remove him from office, like, immediately?” Carlson asked. “Anyone who would even tolerate that kind of talk from any of his subordinates or employees is, by definition, unfit.”

Kent went even further, accusing both parties in Washington of being far too comfortable with the possibility of escalating the conflict.

“He has threatened to annihilate an entire civilization, and the so-called opposition party, they seem to be completely okay with that,” Kent said.

He argued that the controversy exposes what he called a “bipartisan consensus” in Washington favoring more military intervention, particularly when it comes to Iran.

Trump, however, has explicitly denied that he intends to use nuclear weapons against Iran.

Asked about the possibility on April 23, Trump responded: “No, I wouldn’t. We don’t need it.”

He then lashed out at the question itself.

“Why would a stupid question like that be asked?” Trump said during the Oval Office exchange.

“Why would I use a nuclear weapon when we’ve totally and in a very conventional way decimated them without it?” he added. “A nuclear weapon should never be allowed to be used by anybody.”

Still, Trump’s fiery language toward Iran has repeatedly fueled fears that the conflict could spiral into something far more dangerous.

In an April 7 Truth Social post, Trump issued an ominous warning while discussing possible strikes on Iranian infrastructure.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” Trump wrote. “I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.”

He later suggested that political change inside Iran could potentially lead to a dramatically different outcome.

“However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?” Trump wrote.

The escalating war of words comes as the United States and Iran remain locked in tense negotiations surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. and Iranian officials initially announced an agreement in April that would have reopened the critical shipping lane to commercial traffic as part of a broader regional truce, but the deal later fell apart.

American forces cleared mines from the waterway in July, while negotiations over fully reopening the Strait have continued.

Carlson’s remarks are especially striking because he was once one of Trump’s most influential media allies.

Now, as Trump’s foreign policy becomes increasingly aggressive, Carlson appears willing to openly challenge a president he once vigorously defended — and his latest warning could deepen growing divisions inside the MAGA movement over another potential Middle East war.
