In a twist of fate, 29-year-old Albert Lee Gardner, famously known as the “Joker,” found himself back in custody only one day after being released from serving a nine-year prison sentence. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office played a key role in his re-arrest, as they stumbled upon a crucial piece of evidence that ultimately led to his downfall.
According to a statement issued by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, authorities discovered Gardner’s GPS tracking device discarded in a 7-Eleven trash can. This incident raised immediate concerns, as tampering with an electronic monitoring device is a serious offense that can result in severe consequences. Shortly after the discovery of the device, the authorities received an overdose call and, upon responding to the scene, found none other than Albert Lee Gardner himself.
Upon providing Gardner with the necessary medical clearance, the authorities wasted no time in charging him with tampering with an electronic monitoring device. Due to the gravity of his actions and his history, Gardner is being held without bond. It seems that fate had a sense of irony in store for the self-proclaimed “Joker,” and his short-lived taste of freedom came crashing down swiftly.
Albert Lee Gardner’s Troubled Past
Albert Lee Gardner’s recent arrest is just the latest chapter in a long history of criminal behavior. According to reports in The Messenger, Gardner had previously served a nine-year prison sentence for the disturbing crime of “lewd or lascivious battery on a victim between 12 and 15 years old.” This crime alone is deeply troubling and highlights the danger he poses to society, particularly vulnerable individuals.
Furthermore, Gardner’s criminal record includes a laundry list of offenses, ranging from criminal mischief and burglary to possession of paraphernalia, theft, and driving without a valid license. However, the most disturbing entry in his record is another charge of lewd battery, this time involving a victim aged 12 to 15 years old. Such predatory behavior raises significant alarm bells and underscores the necessity of keeping individuals like Gardner off the streets and away from potential victims.
