Princess Kate may be raising the future king and two of the world’s most famous royal children, but inside her home, she reportedly has a strict set of family rules she refuses to bend.

The Princess of Wales, 44, and Prince William, 44, are raising Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, with one major goal in mind: keeping their children grounded despite the extraordinary royal world surrounding them.

For Kate, kindness, honesty, good manners and emotional security reportedly come before titles, privilege — and even academic success.

The mother of three has previously said the values she learned from her own parents continue to shape the way she raises her children today.

“My parents taught me about the importance of qualities like kindness, respect and honesty,” Kate said, explaining that those values became central throughout her life.

She added that she and William want George, Charlotte and Louis to understand just how important those qualities are as they grow up.

And Kate has made it clear that good grades are not everything.

“In my view, it is just as important as excelling at maths or sport,” she said of teaching children strong personal values.

The royal mom also believes emotional support matters far more than simply showering children with expensive toys, vacations or other privileges.

Speaking with radio host Roman Kemp in 2023, Kate said raising secure children is “not about the number of toys they’ve got” or how many trips parents take them on.

Instead, she said the key is making sure children have “the right emotional support around them,” especially from the adults closest to them.

William appears to be firmly on the same page.

The Prince of Wales has previously insisted that, despite their royal status, their household operates much like any other family.

“As far as we are concerned within our family unit, we are a normal family,” William said in 2016.

“I love my children in the same way any father does, and I hope George loves me the same way any son does his father.”

That effort to create a sense of normalcy reportedly extends to everyday life.

William and Kate have regularly taken their children to school, attended their activities and tried to carefully manage how much exposure George, Charlotte and Louis have to royal engagements, cameras and the intense public attention surrounding the monarchy.

Kate has also acknowledged that raising children today comes with challenges even previous generations of royals never had to face.

During a visit to the University of East London’s Institute of the Science of Early Years and Youth, she spoke about the pressure parents face trying to “keep up in real-time” with social media, technology and rapidly changing scientific and medical information.

The issue is closely connected to Kate’s work through her Centre for Early Childhood, which she founded in 2021 to focus attention on the importance of a child’s earliest years.

She has also repeatedly pushed the idea that parents should not be expected to raise children entirely on their own, embracing the traditional belief that it “takes a village” to help children thrive.

A royal source told RadarOnline.com that there are certain parenting principles Kate simply will not compromise on.

“Kate has certain rules about family life that she simply will not compromise on,” the source said.

According to the insider, George, Charlotte and Louis may understand that they belong to the royal family, but inside their home the focus remains on “kindness, manners, honesty and treating other people properly.”

“Titles and privilege do not excuse bad behavior,” the source added.

Kate is also reportedly determined to make sure her children understand that becoming successful adults involves far more than impressive grades or perfectly carrying out royal duties.

“She wants them to feel listened to and secure enough to talk openly when something is troubling them,” the insider said.

William reportedly fully supports that approach.

The couple wants their home to remain a safe place where the children can laugh, make mistakes and simply enjoy being a family — even as George moves closer to the enormous responsibilities that could one day come with becoming king.

“There are boundaries and expectations,” the source said, “but Kate believes emotional security has to come before preparing them for their future royal responsibilities.”

For Kate, it appears the biggest royal rule of all is surprisingly simple: family comes first.
