Ashley Biden gave followers a scare Thursday after revealing she had recently been hospitalized, sharing a photo from a hospital bed while reassuring fans that she was already home and recovering.

The 45-year-old daughter of former President Joe Biden posted the image to Instagram on October 1, showing herself wearing a hospital gown and apparently connected to medical monitoring equipment.

“What a f—ing day,” Ashley wrote alongside the photo.

Despite the unsettling scene, she appeared upbeat and quickly told followers that she had already been discharged.

“I be ok,” she wrote. “Better safe than sorry.”

Ashley did not disclose what sent her to the hospital, and there has been no public indication that she is dealing with a serious or ongoing medical condition.

Her decision not to reveal the cause is significant, particularly because photographs of hospital equipment alone cannot establish a diagnosis or explain what treatment a patient received.

The brief health scare comes during an emotional period for the Biden family, as Ashley continues to support her father through his battle with advanced prostate cancer while also navigating major changes in her personal life.

Former President Biden was diagnosed in May 2025 with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones.

His office said at the time that doctors identified a Gleason score of 9, Grade Group 5 cancer with bone metastasis. Although the diagnosis represented an advanced form of the disease, Biden’s doctors said the cancer was hormone-sensitive, meaning treatment options were available to help manage it.

More than a year later, Biden offered an encouraging update.

In September 2026, the former president said radiation treatment he received the previous fall had “worked as intended.”

Biden thanked the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals caring for him and said he was continuing to work on projects important to him, including his memoir.

The update was positive, but Biden did not announce that he was cancer-free or in remission. Instead, he said medical professionals had helped control the disease and continued to care for him.

Ashley has been publicly supportive of her father since his diagnosis.

Shortly after news of his cancer became public, she shared an emotional tribute describing her father as the “strongest fighter” she knew.

“There is no safer place than in my father’s arms,” Ashley wrote at the time, adding that she planned to remain beside him throughout his treatment.

The former first daughter has also been going through a dramatic transition of her own.

In August 2025, Ashley filed for divorce from Dr. Howard Krein after 13 years of marriage. Court records showed that the filing was made in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

Ashley and Krein married in 2012 after being introduced several years earlier by Ashley’s late brother, Beau Biden.

Around the time of the divorce filing, Ashley posted messages on social media about starting over and establishing new boundaries.

“New life, new beginnings means new boundaries,” she wrote. “New ways of being that won’t look or sound like they did before.”

More recently, Ashley told followers that she was “falling in love with life again,” suggesting she was embracing a new chapter following a difficult stretch for both herself and her family.

Her latest hospital post briefly raised new concerns, but Ashley’s own message suggested she wanted followers to know the episode had passed.

She even paired the hospital photo with Lil Wayne’s “Let It All Work Out,” reinforcing the more optimistic message she included with the picture.

For now, exactly what happened remains private.

Ashley has not publicly identified the illness, injury or symptoms that led her to seek hospital care, and there is no indication that her hospitalization is connected in any way to her father’s cancer diagnosis.

What she did make clear was that she sought medical attention rather than taking chances — and by the time she shared the photograph, she was already out of the hospital.

“Better safe than sorry,” she told her followers.
