Fox News Interview Goes Off the Rails (Video)

Fox News host Jesse Watters appeared momentarily stunned when a heated live interview took an unexpectedly personal turn.

Watters was sparring with Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed over medical care for transgender minors when El-Sayed suddenly asked the conservative host whether he had been circumcised.

The bizarre exchange came during an already combative interview in which Watters pressed the 41-year-old candidate on everything from immigration enforcement to Beyoncé.

But things escalated when the conversation turned to medical procedures involving transgender children.

“So you think it’s OK for a parent to slash his kid’s ding-a-ling off?” Watters asked. “You think that’s OK?”

El-Sayed appeared taken aback by the wording before shooting back with a question of his own.

“Do you really wanna have this conversation? Are you circumcised?”

Watters immediately reacted.

“Ah! Yeah. But I mean, uh, that’s a personal question, doctor!” he replied.

The Fox host then argued that circumcision was fundamentally different from the procedures they had been discussing, declaring, “A circumcision’s different than castration.”

El-Sayed refused to back down.

“I just think it’s a problem that you think you get to decide what happens between a parent, a doctor, and a patient,” he said.

The former Detroit health director then returned to his circumcision comparison, arguing that it also involves surgery performed on a child.

The exchange quickly exploded online, where Watters’ critics accused him of turning a serious policy discussion into an inflammatory television showdown.

Some viewers argued that the host was more interested in creating a viral “gotcha” moment than having a substantive debate. Others defended the aggressive questioning, saying politicians seeking federal office should expect to face uncomfortable questions about controversial issues.

The clash is just the latest headline-grabbing confrontation involving Watters.

Earlier in August, comedian Rosie O’Donnell lashed out after claiming members of Watters’ production team confronted her outside a New York City theater and attempted to get her to speak with the Fox host.

O’Donnell said the crew approached her while she was appearing in the off-Broadway production Common Knowledge at the Daryl Roth Theater.

According to O’Donnell, members of the crew shouted that Watters wanted to speak with her as she arrived at the theater.

She later blasted the encounter in a profanity-filled TikTok video and made it clear she had no interest in appearing on his program.

“No, I don’t want to speak or answer a question from Jesse Watters,” O’Donnell said.

She also told Watters that if he wanted an interview, he should contact her publicist rather than sending a camera crew to approach her in public.

“I’m not afraid of you,” O’Donnell declared. “I just have no interest in you in any capacity.”

Between his showdown with O’Donnell and his eyebrow-raising exchange with El-Sayed, Watters is once again proving that his interviews rarely stay predictable for long.
