Marjorie Taylor Greene is taking a blowtorch to America’s healthcare system after revealing she traveled to Mexico for stem cell treatment because, she says, options in the United States are too limited and too expensive.
The former congresswoman made the revelation while launching a new YouTube video series, using the moment to unload on the U.S. medical system and explain why she went outside the country for treatment.
Speaking from Mexico, Greene said Americans are being blocked from accessing therapies that are available in other countries, including at facilities like Dream Body Clinic.
“Americans cannot get many health treatments at home in the United States that they can at places like the Dream Body Clinic here in Mexico and other countries, and it’s really a shame,” Greene said.
The 52-year-old said the issue was one of the problems that left her “absolutely disgusted” with her own party before her dramatic exit from Congress.
Greene said she underwent regenerative stem cell therapy and praised the treatment as an investment in long-term health.
“Treatments like stem cell therapies to me are a great expenditure,” she said. “I think it’s great because it’s regenerative, it’s restoring, and it works on a cellular level.”
But stem cell treatments remain a controversial subject in the United States. The Food and Drug Administration has not approved restorative stem cell therapies, and some doctors have warned that certain procedures offered by private clinics can be unproven and lack the kind of oversight patients may expect from regulated medical care.
Greene also revealed that she does not currently have health insurance, saying the soaring price of coverage helped push her toward seeking treatment abroad.
“It’s really a shame,” she said, adding that American families can spend up to $27,000 a year on health insurance, only to face another $7,000 to $10,000 in deductibles.
The comments struck a nerve because Greene has long been one of the loudest conservative voices in Washington, but she is now using her platform to blast a healthcare system that many Americans already say has become impossible to afford.
Greene argued that more people are walking away from the traditional insurance model altogether because they feel trapped between sky-high premiums, massive deductibles, and limited treatment options.
“So there are a lot of people that are choosing to go outside of our traditional health insurance and healthcare system in order to have really good health and take care of themselves,” she said.
Her remarks also come as Greene’s own finances have drawn public attention. Newsweek previously estimated in 2025 that her net worth had grown to roughly $22 million.
The healthcare broadside is just the latest sign that Greene is entering a new political chapter. Once one of President Donald Trump’s fiercest allies, she recently turned her fire on him over the escalating conflict with Iran.
In a lengthy social media post, Greene mocked what she repeatedly called the “war that is not a war” and questioned the administration’s strategy and spending.
“I truly hope that the totally unnecessary Iran war, that is not a war, is truly over and peace is achieved,” Greene wrote, before adding: “It’s been incredible that we beat Iran dozens of times and nearly made peace almost 40 times.”
Now, with her Mexico medical trip and blistering attack on American healthcare, Greene is once again grabbing attention — this time by accusing the system at home of leaving Americans with fewer choices, higher bills, and a growing reason to look elsewhere.
