President Trump is once again stirring headlines—this time for stepping behind a microphone and taking on what critics are calling a “divine role.”

Just days after igniting backlash over an AI image portraying himself as Jesus, Trump has recorded a dramatic reading from the Old Testament for a nationwide Bible event—fueling yet another wave of outrage, confusion, and fierce debate.

The 79-year-old president delivered a two-and-a-half-minute scripture reading as part of “America Reads the Bible,” a marathon event hosted at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. His chosen passage? A powerful call for repentance from II Chronicles, a favorite among many on the Christian right.

“If My people… shall humble themselves, and pray… then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,” Trump reads in the recording—leaning into a message many of his supporters see as a rallying cry for the nation.

The White House framed the moment as a bold push to “renew our faith” and spark a religious revival across America. But critics aren’t buying the holy messaging, especially given Trump’s recent controversies.

The Bible reading comes on the heels of a chaotic stretch that’s had both political insiders and religious leaders raising eyebrows. Trump recently lashed out at the Pope, pushed false claims about global leaders, and posted that now-infamous AI image of himself as Jesus—something that even some of his own allies blasted as crossing the line.

The president later tried to brush it off, claiming he thought the image made him look like a doctor. The post was quietly deleted—but not before it exploded across social media.

Meanwhile, Trump’s complicated relationship with religion is back under the spotlight. He’s long claimed the Bible is his favorite book, though he’s struggled in the past to name specific verses or even pick between the Old and New Testament. During his 2024 campaign, he even sold a $60 “God Bless the USA” branded Bible—raising questions about mixing faith and profit.

And who’s joining him in this latest spiritual spectacle? Big-name figures like Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are all part of the lineup, with most participants coming from evangelical backgrounds.

Trump’s segment is set to air Tuesday evening, but the buzz is already deafening.

Between fiery political rhetoric, headline-grabbing stunts, and now a high-profile scripture reading, one thing is clear—Trump’s latest move is blurring the line between politics, religion, and spectacle in a way that’s impossible to ignore.
