A routine drive through a busy Orlando shopping district spiraled into chaos when a 37-year-old woman allegedly launched a violent road rage attack that left a pregnant driver and an elderly bystander injured — and ended with a police officer reportedly bitten during the arrest.

According to the Orlando Police Department, Mandolyn Shaffer-Brockwell was taken into custody on February 23 following what authorities described as a “battery related to a driving dispute” near Millenia Boulevard and Millenia Plaza Way. Investigators say the incident quickly escalated into a disturbing series of assaults caught on video.

Police allege Shaffer-Brockwell aggressively targeted a pregnant woman behind the wheel of an SUV, jumping onto the vehicle’s hood before forcing open the driver’s door and punching her in the face. The victim, who reportedly had a child in the car at the time, called 911 during the incident, telling dispatchers she had just been attacked.

The situation intensified when a 68-year-old woman stepped in to help. Instead of de-escalating, authorities say Shaffer-Brockwell turned on the Good Samaritan — allegedly striking and scratching her face while shouting at her to get back into her car.

Video released by police appears to show the suspect moving between vehicles and physically confronting both victims in broad daylight, raising renewed concerns about the growing frequency and severity of road rage incidents across the country.

When officers located Shaffer-Brockwell shortly after the attack, police say she refused to comply with commands and violently resisted arrest. During the struggle, she allegedly bit an officer on the arm before being subdued and taken into custody.

She now faces multiple serious charges, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, battery on a person over 65, burglary with assault, and resisting an officer with violence.

While the victims’ identities have not been publicly released, the incident has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger measures to address aggressive driving and prevent violent confrontations on public roads.

For many, the case underscores how quickly everyday frustrations can escalate into dangerous, life-threatening situations — especially when vulnerable individuals, including pregnant women and seniors, are caught in the crossfire.

As the legal process unfolds, questions remain about what more can be done to curb road rage before it turns into yet another act of public violence.

  1. The road rage woman should have the book thrown at her!  As long a time in jail as can be figured out.  Never driving again.  A full psychological evaluation to see if she should be institutionalized.  She has severe problems and does not belong in society.  Dr. Schlatter
