The tangled legacies of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein collided once again this weekend after the release of a 2018 email exchange between Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, and the late financier—one that mentioned Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and a person referred to only as “Bubba.”

The now-viral email, revealed as part of a massive 26,000-page congressional release from Epstein’s estate, instantly set off a political firestorm and rampant speculation online. Many believed “Bubba” referred to former President Bill Clinton, who was both a longtime acquaintance of Epstein and, at times, of Trump.

In the 2018 exchange, Mark Epstein wrote to his brother: “Ask him if Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba?”

Jeffrey Epstein replied: “And I thought I had tsuris.”

Mark shot back: “You and your boy Donnie can make a remake of the movie Get Hard.”

Mark Epstein: “It Was a Joke Between Brothers”

By Sunday, Mark Epstein moved to tamp down the frenzy. Speaking through The Daily Beast, the 71-year-old property developer and philanthropist insisted the remark was never about Bill Clinton, nor was it serious.

“They were simply part of a humorous private exchange between two brothers and were never meant for public release or to be interpreted as serious remarks,” Epstein said in a written statement. “For the avoidance of doubt, the reference to ‘Bubba’ in this correspondence is not, in any way, a reference to former President Bill Clinton.”

Epstein’s spokesperson, Ali Clark, doubled down later in the day, telling The Advocate that “Bubba” referred to “a private individual who is not a public figure.”

Still, Epstein declined to elaborate further, fueling more curiosity than he extinguished.

Trump’s Old Ties to Epstein Resurface

The emails are part of a growing archive that continues to haunt the political landscape six years after Epstein’s death in a Manhattan jail cell. Several exchanges released by Congress appear to contradict claims made by President Trump—now serving his second term—that he had distanced himself from Epstein years before the financier’s 2019 arrest.

In one 2019 message to author Michael Wolff, Epstein claimed Trump “knew about the girls.” Another email, sent to New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr., offered photos of “Donald and girls in bikinis in my kitchen.”

Epstein even labeled Trump a “maniac” and “dirty” in private messages.

The two men had once been friends in the 1980s and ’90s, socializing in Palm Beach circles until a reported falling out in the mid-2000s. But as new documents surface, critics argue the president’s attempts to rewrite history are becoming increasingly difficult to sustain.

White House Fires Back

The White House responded swiftly to the controversy, framing the story as a partisan distraction.

“These emails prove literally nothing,” press secretary Abigail Jackson said in a statement. “Democrats and the mainstream media are desperately trying to use this hoax as a distraction to talk about anything other than the President’s many wins, including the Democrats getting utterly defeated by President Trump in the shutdown fight.”

Meanwhile, Trump himself has attempted to turn the scandal back on his political enemies. Last week, he ordered Attorney General Pamela Bondi to open an investigation into Epstein’s ties to the Clintons and other “deep state” figures.

Bondi announced on social media that she had tapped Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton to lead the inquiry, saying the Justice Department would “pursue this with urgency and integrity.”

Democrats Call for Transparency

Democratic lawmakers, however, are demanding full transparency regarding Trump’s personal connections to Epstein.

“This isn’t about partisan games,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD). “It’s about whether the President of the United States was part of a network that preyed on women and abused power. Americans deserve the truth.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) echoed the sentiment on X, writing, “The President’s name keeps surfacing in the Epstein files. The DOJ must not be used as his personal defense team.”

As for Clinton, his office has not commented on the latest revelations—but sources close to the former president told The Guardian he was “deeply disturbed” by the weaponization of the Epstein documents for political purposes.

The Fallout

With the 2025 political climate already boiling over—between shutdown clashes, inflation debates, and foreign crises—the latest Epstein-related revelations are yet another blow to a White House still grappling with credibility issues.

For many Americans, the email about “Trump blowing Bubba” may read like political theater. But for others, it’s a reminder of the murky, transactional world of powerful men who once moved freely in the same elite circles—until those secrets began to surface.

  1. And is the author of this email the same one who invented the “Still Case” with its silver rain in the Obamas’ holy bed?

  2. Regarding the Epstein vs Trump ongoing saga and along with many others allow me to say and quote a Bible verse that says …… “let him that is without sin cast the first stone.” With this…..my advice is to move on and continue to take care of The Peoples Business. All of them on both sides of the isle are sinners, some more gross than others, but sin is sin no matter what. So then both sides go ahead and continue to sling mud and watch and see where that gets you at midterms and in 2028 as well. Sounds like an elementary school yard play time where the fights start to happen. Someone please put some adults into the room….!
