Congressman Caught Digging Through Stranger’s Mailbox?

Republican Rep. Randy Fine is facing uncomfortable questions after viral doorbell footage appeared to show the MAGA congressman opening a Florida voter’s mailbox and looking through the mail while campaigning for re-election.

And when confronted about the bizarre moment, Fine offered an eyebrow-raising response: He wasn’t even sure the video was real.

The Ring doorbell footage, obtained by TMZ, reportedly shows the 52-year-old Florida Republican approaching a home on Sunday, Aug. 16, while canvassing ahead of the GOP primary.

Fine rings the doorbell and waits outside. But while apparently waiting for someone to answer, the congressman can be seen opening the homeowner’s exterior mailbox and looking through the envelopes inside.

He appears to rummage through the mail for several seconds before closing the box and ringing the doorbell again.

There is no indication in the footage that Fine removed, inserted or tampered with any mail, meaning the video does not appear to show him committing a crime.

But the strange encounter quickly exploded online.

Fine’s office initially acknowledged to TMZ that the man in the footage was the congressman. Yet when a reporter later confronted Fine directly, he suddenly appeared far less certain.

“I’m not sure it was even real,” Fine said.

He claimed that during the final weeks of the campaign, videos had circulated allegedly showing him “doing all kinds of things.”

When the reporter noted that Fine’s own office had apparently confirmed his identity, the congressman pushed back.

“No, my office said it looked like me,” Fine replied.

Fine then insisted he simply could not remember the incident.

“I don’t know that it was me. I don’t remember doing it. I don’t know why I would have done it,” he said. “I knocked on 500 doors, so I don’t remember doing it.”

The exchange grew even stranger when Fine raised the possibility of artificial intelligence.

After the reporter said the footage did not appear to be AI-generated, Fine clarified that he was not definitively claiming it was fake.

“I’m not saying it is,” he said. “I’m saying I don’t remember doing that.”

“I’m not gonna say I did something that I don’t remember doing.”

The controversy surfaced shortly after Fine comfortably won Florida’s Republican primary for the state’s 6th Congressional District on Aug. 18, taking roughly 58 percent of the vote.

Fine, a former gambling industry executive and outspoken Trump ally, has already developed a reputation for controversy during his time in Congress.

Earlier this year, Democrats pushed to censure Fine over a social media post critics condemned as anti-Muslim.

The backlash was not limited to Democrats.

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly also ripped into Fine over his rhetoric, accusing the Republican lawmaker of going “full bigot” and calling him a “pathetic sweaty man.”

Now the mailbox footage is giving Fine’s critics fresh ammunition — and his unusual response may have created an even bigger story than the video itself.

For a congressman caught on doorbell footage apparently looking through a constituent’s mailbox, “maybe it was AI” is unlikely to make the questions disappear.
