President Donald Trump has dropped his latest self-congratulatory video on Truth Social — and somehow managed to turn a political brag into a hip-hop fever dream.
The 30-second clip features Trump thundering through his March address to Congress — his first since beginning his second term — declaring, “The media and our friends in the Democrat party kept saying we needed new legislation to secure the border, but it turned out all we really needed was a new president.”

Cue the cheers. Cue the smirks. And then, out of nowhere — cue Dr. Dre.
The screen cuts to the legendary 1999 beat from “The Next Episode,” a song best known for its laid-back California vibe, its weed-smoke haze, and its now-immortal line: “Smoke weed every day.”
The response online was instant and brutal. “This is like watching your dad crash a rap concert,” one X user wrote. Another said, “Dr. Dre’s lawyers are definitely warming up the printers.”
The Audacity of the Soundtrack
It’s a choice so outlandish it borders on trolling. Dr. Dre, a lifelong Democrat and cultural icon, has never authorized Trump or any MAGA figure to use his work — and in 2023, his lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after she used “Still D.R.E.” in a campaign promo.
“Mr. Young (Dr. Dre) will never license his music to a politician whose platform runs counter to his values,” his legal team wrote back then. That might make Trump’s latest stunt a legal grenade just waiting to go off.
Even more ironic? The song features Snoop Dogg — who literally depicted Trump’s mock assassination in his 2017 “Lavender” video. Back then, Trump tweeted that Snoop had a “failing career” and should face “jail time.”
Fast-forward to 2025: Snoop performed at a Trump-aligned “Crypto Ball” in January and brushed it off by telling reporters he was “about peace, not politics.”
The whiplash is real.
A President Obsessed with Pop Culture
For Trump, though, this is the playbook. His second term has been built as much around showmanship as it has around policy. The latest video feels less like a presidential message and more like a campaign trailer — complete with a soundtrack ripped straight from hip-hop royalty.
“It’s not politics, it’s performance art,” said Democratic strategist Erin Cross. “Trump doesn’t want approval — he wants attention. The louder the reaction, the better the outcome.”
And reaction he got. Within hours, “Dr. Dre” and “The Next Episode” were trending across social media, while Truth Social users flooded the clip with fire emojis and praise. “President with swagger,” one fan wrote.
Others weren’t so kind. “Imagine lecturing the nation about law and order while illegally using Dr. Dre’s music,” one critic wrote. “The irony is too thick to breathe.”
From Gangsta Beats to the Oval Office
If Dre’s lawyers move fast, Trump could soon be facing another cease-and-desist — but that might be exactly what he wants. Each controversy fuels the Trump media machine, pulling attention from his mounting legal troubles and ongoing investigations into his administration’s border policies.
As one entertainment columnist summed it up: “Trump’s turned Dre’s weed anthem into a MAGA march. You almost have to admire the shamelessness.”
It’s a crossover no one asked for — hip-hop meets hyper-nationalism — and only in 2025 America could it sound like this.
