Caterina Murino, best known for seducing James Bond in Casino Royale, has welcomed her first child at the age of 47 — a stunning turn of events after years of fertility struggles.
The Italian actress gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Demetrio Tancredi Rigaud Murino, on August 21 in Paris. The star, who turns 48 later this month, shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting:
“Illithyia, Hercule, Selené and Leto announce the birth of their little brother Demetrio Tancredi Rigaud Murino, born 08/21/2025 at 6:17 p.m. Their mom and dad are well and crazy with joy for future sleepless nights!”
The “siblings” she referred to are actually her four beloved cats — and now, as Murino joked, they officially have a little brother.
Caterina, who played Solange Dimitrios opposite Daniel Craig in the 2006 Bond blockbuster, has been open about her emotional battle to conceive. In past interviews, she described the heartbreak of enduring two miscarriages and a grueling IVF journey. Just last year, she admitted to French magazine Gala:
“Not having children is a pain, not a regret. At 46, I thought the one who distributes miracles had forgotten about me.”
Earlier this year, she revealed the joyful news that she had finally conceived through IVF. Despite the difficult road, she said her pregnancy was surprisingly smooth:
“I haven’t had any diabetes, discomfort, or insomnia. It’s been a miracle.”
Murino has been in a relationship with French lawyer Edouard Rigaud since 2019, and the couple lives together in Paris’ artistic Montmartre district. She credits Rigaud with standing by her side through her darkest moments.
“Edouard has been my rock,” she told Gala. “After two miscarriages, I was ready to give up. But he believed in us when I couldn’t.”
Murino shot to fame nearly two decades ago as the glamorous and ill-fated Solange in Casino Royale, but her personal life has always been fiercely private. Before meeting Rigaud, she was linked to French rugby star Pierre Rabadan.
Now, after years of uncertainty and heartbreak, the 47-year-old actress is embracing a new role — mom.
“This baby is our little miracle,” a source close to the couple shared. “Caterina never gave up hope.”
While she continues to work in European cinema and television, friends say Murino plans to step back from acting for a while to focus on motherhood. Fans across the world flooded her social media with congratulations, many calling her story “inspiring” and “proof that miracles happen.”
