In yet another display of political pettiness, the Trump White House has taken its trolling campaign digital — this time targeting former President Barack Obama.

Over the weekend, LinkedIn users who once worked under Obama — and every other modern president — opened their profiles to find an unexpected update: their résumés now sit beneath Donald Trump’s face.

The White House changed its official LinkedIn profile photo to Trump’s scowling portrait, ensuring that anyone who lists “Executive Office of the President” on their work history now has his image stamped above their record.

“This is one of the great trolls of all time,” Donald Trump Jr. gleefully posted on X, formerly Twitter.

But for many former staffers, it’s anything but funny.

“This is beyond childish,” said a former Obama aide who asked to remain anonymous. “Trump’s obsession with erasing Obama’s legacy isn’t just political — it’s personal.”

It isn’t just Obama-era officials who are affected. Hundreds of past White House employees — from both Democratic and Republican administrations — now see Trump’s face next to their professional histories. That includes some of his own former staffers who turned against him, like Cassidy Hutchinson, who testified about Trump’s actions during the January 6th attack.

“I woke up to find my work history branded with the man I warned America about,” Hutchinson told MSNBC. “It’s disturbing — but not surprising.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has used government platforms to elevate his personal image. In May, his portrait was draped across the Department of Agriculture. Last month, a massive banner featuring Trump’s face and the slogan “American Workers First” was unfurled from the roof of the Department of Labor — alongside an image of Teddy Roosevelt.

Inside the White House, Trump has reportedly installed multiple paintings of himself in prominent spots, while moving Barack Obama’s official portrait out of the Grand Foyer and into a restricted stairwell.

“Trump is obsessed with symbols,” said political historian Dr. Evelyn Chambers. “He wants to control not just policy but memory. From LinkedIn pages to federal buildings, he’s literally rewriting history.”

Despite growing criticism, the Trump administration has not explained the reasoning behind the LinkedIn stunt. Requests for comment from multiple outlets, including the Daily Beast and CNN, have gone unanswered.

For now, anyone who served in the West Wing — whether they worked for Obama, Bush, Clinton, or Biden — has little choice but to see Trump’s face hovering over their professional profiles.

And that, experts warn, might be the point.

“Every time you open LinkedIn, he wants to remind you who’s in charge,” Chambers added. “It’s trolling as propaganda.”
