Backstage meltdowns, partisan tension, and political whiplash: Alyssa Farah Griffin reveals the emotional toll of being the odd woman out on America’s most combative talk show.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, the former Trump White House communications director turned daytime TV pundit, revealed Wednesday that she’s cried backstage “at least half a dozen times” since joining ABC’s The View. The shocking confession came during a segment about whether it’s appropriate to cry at work—but for Griffin, it’s not hypothetical. It’s her reality.

“This job is no joke,” said the 36-year-old conservative panelist. “Imagine walking into a room every day where four other women think your views are insane. Some days I walk out of there emotionally wrecked.”

Griffin made the revelation while discussing a report on Gen Z’s comfort with emotional vulnerability in the workplace. Co-host Sunny Hostin was quick to shut down the idea, saying, “I’ve never had the luxury to cry at work. I just focus on being excellent and go home.”

But Griffin admitted her tears are real—and often hidden. “I go offstage and cry quietly so my bosses won’t know,” she said with a nervous laugh, likening herself to The Simpsons’ Milhouse, who shows Bart a cave where he goes to sob alone.

The moment turned even more personal when Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg expressed concern. “Nobody should be made to cry at this job,” Goldberg told her, before adding, “Let us support you.”

Griffin, hired in 2022 as part of the show’s push for “balanced” representation alongside fellow Republican Ana Navarro, has frequently clashed with liberal co-hosts like Hostin, whom she once accused of “making it personal.”

“There’s real tension behind the scenes,” a source close to production told us. “It’s not just TV drama—it’s actual emotional warfare.”

Despite admitting to voting for Kamala Harris in 2024, Griffin still carries the Trump-era label that seems to put her at odds with The View’s predominantly liberal panel and audience. And it shows.

Still, Griffin tried to lighten the mood by insisting she loves her job—emotional breakdowns and all. “Every time I’ve cried, our producer Brian gives great hugs,” she quipped.

But one has to wonder: how long can she keep showing up to a table where every topic feels like a firing squad?
