Senate Democrats eviscerate Trump’s ambassador pick: “This isn’t a vacation gig—it’s diplomacy.”
In what’s being called one of the most embarrassing confirmation hearings in recent memory, President Trump’s nominee for U.S. ambassador to Singapore, Dr. Anjani Sinha, was publicly humiliated on Capitol Hill Wednesday—leaving many wondering whether the White House bothered vetting him at all.
Dr. Sinha, a wealthy Florida orthopedic surgeon and longtime Trump friend, struggled to answer even basic questions about Singapore before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, prompting a brutal takedown by Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).
“Do you even know the size of our trade surplus with Singapore?” Duckworth asked early in the hearing.
Sinha guessed: “$80 billion?” Then tried again: “$18 billion?”
The actual figure is $2.8 billion.
That set the tone for what turned into a televised demolition. When pressed on Trump’s controversial 10% tariff on Singaporean goods and how he planned to smooth over tensions, Sinha replied vaguely: “The door is not closed.”
Duckworth wasn’t having it.
“When does Singapore next chair ASEAN?” she asked, referring to the influential Southeast Asian political bloc.
Sinha froze. “I’ll have to get back to you,” he mumbled. The correct answer, Duckworth informed him, is 2027.
“And what does chairing ASEAN involve?” Duckworth continued.
The answer? More silence. Then, rambling nonsense.
“I just feel you are not taking this seriously,” Duckworth fired back. “This is not a glamour posting. This is a critical diplomatic role.”
She didn’t stop there. “You’re unqualified. You’re not prepared. And you need to shape up and do some homework.”
Singaporeans noticed. Social media erupted across the city-state, with local outlets reporting that one viral comment dubbed Sinha “more Embarassador than ambassador.”
Yet despite the meltdown, his nomination remains alive.
That’s thanks to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), a Trump loyalist who introduced Sinha as a “dear friend” of the president and now holds the committee gavel. With Republicans in control of the Senate, a party-line vote could still rubber-stamp the appointment.
Trump nominated Sinha back in March, calling him a “highly respected entrepreneur.” The State Department has bizarrely claimed his “cultural ties to the Indo-Pacific region” make him qualified—though Sinha has no apparent diplomatic, economic, or regional expertise.
“Dr. Sinha is uniquely positioned,” the department said, “to relate to Singapore’s stakeholders and represent U.S. interests in the region.”
Senate Democrats—and much of the watching world—aren’t buying it.
“This is what happens when loyalty is valued more than competence,” said one former State Department official. “Singapore is one of our most important strategic allies in Asia. And this is who Trump wants to send?”

As a strong Conservative and Trump supporter I do not believe in handing our Cush Ambassador positions to unqualified individuals, friends or not! These roles should go to those knowledgeable of the country they are being sent to, their economy, their GDP, history of trade assests, military standing and defenses. It should not be a nation destination regardless of Party affiliation!
wow. we agree & probably could do the job better, tho we’re not qualified either.
This guy has been busy being a medical doctor surgeon, not studying minutiae about his native Asia… he can learn all that and more in a day or two if he gets the job… he’s smart.
“Dr. Anji Sinha is a retiring preeminent surgeon on the East Coast specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. He is an accomplished entrepreneur, having built multiple thriving key-man practices with specialized teams across eight locations in New York, and has served as a senior surgical consultant in Florida. Dr. Sinha has extensive experience working with both the public and private sectors, and with medical, legal, and business operators across the health care sector.”

Oh no, he’s not part of the deep state pushing anti-American interests so he was attached by democrats!! lol
Jesus Christ himself wouldn’t be approved by Democrats so long as Trump nominated him!
To be a successful entrepreneur you have to be able to negotiate or you don’t survive. He will get his marching orders from the President, who is responsible for foreign policy and as a successful entrepreneurs would be able to communicate well! At least he has no outside and questionable connections, appointments and suspicious funds like certain democrats we know like, Hillary Clinton (former Secretary of State with no former diplomatic experience and as dirty as can be destroying subpoened records ) or Hunter Biden ( a member of the President’s family involved in influence peddling) and Joe Biden (former president who through his family received tens of millions of dollars from our adversaries both China and Russia -170 uninvestgated bank SARs) so I’d rather have a businessman who is NOT part of the deep state, who already made his money and not through insider trading while in government (Nancy Pelosi another democrat) (are you seeing a pattern of corruption with Democrats- I am) who takes direction from our elected President on trade policy not some deep stater…
BTW who negotiated the historic Abraham Accords? That’s right Jared Kushner with no prior diplomatic experience what-so-ever and not a deep stater!!!
I’m all for new blood in government ! Out with the old corrupt people and bring in some new people! Great choice!
