In what should have been a chance for 17-year-old Kai Trump to showcase her talent on the green, the granddaughter of former President Donald Trump instead found herself at the center of a political circus—one that played out far from the campaign trail, on the pristine fairways of Sage Valley, South Carolina.
What started as a junior golf tournament quickly turned into a surreal spectacle. Not because of stellar scores or dramatic playoffs—but because Kai, already under intense media and family scrutiny, was trailed by an aggressive crowd of MAGA superfans who brought more commotion than cheers.
A Tournament Hijacked by Politics
By the numbers, Trump’s performance was dismal—finishing dead last with a score of 52-over par, nearly twice the score of the player just above her, and 58 shots behind the winner, Aphrodite Deng. But observers say it wasn’t just a bad day—it was a meltdown fueled by chaos.
“I don’t know how she was supposed to focus,” said one coach, who spoke to us on condition of anonymity. “Everywhere she turned, there were people screaming ‘MAGA!’ or trying to snap selfies like it was a rally. It felt like a political event, not a junior golf tournament.”
Photos from the course showed dozens of spectators in bedazzled Trump and MAGA gear—some even wearing University of Miami merchandise, where Kai is slated to play golf this fall. At one point, sources say, her Secret Service detail had to repeatedly intervene as young fans—some as young as 11—broke past security to get closer to her.
“Stand back,” agents were heard shouting. “Where are your parents?” one reportedly asked a group of rowdy teens decked out in red, white, and blue. Others were simply told: “Don’t move.”
Fame Overshadowing the Game
Kai Trump isn’t just any teen athlete—she’s arguably the most high-profile Trump granddaughter, and that comes with baggage. Tiger Woods and other top golf names were in attendance, not just for Kai, but for their own kids. Woods’ son Charlie competed in the boys’ division—and interestingly, has been seen spending time with Kai.
That’s not all. Rumors have swirled for months that Woods has been dating Kai’s mother, Vanessa Trump, Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife. Though the rumored couple didn’t appear at the event, their shadows—along with the Trump name—loomed large.
Even without them, the crowd acted like they were watching history unfold. Unfortunately for Kai, that pressure didn’t translate into performance.
“She never had a chance,” said one tournament official. “You could see it in her body language after the first day. She was drowning out there.”
Trying to Stay Composed
Despite the distractions and disastrous play, Kai kept her composure. She was seen signing autographs between holes, chatting with fans, and even smiling for photos. But the toll was obvious.
In a YouTube video posted weeks before the tournament, Kai reflected on what it’s like living under the microscope.
“It’s tough because you’re in high school and you want to have your privacy,” she said. “But I feel no matter what I’ll probably never have the privacy as other kids my age, so I kinda just have to deal with it.”
Looking Ahead
Kai’s rough showing at Sage Valley follows another underwhelming performance earlier this year in Myrtle Beach. Currently ranked 151st in Florida junior golf standings, she’ll soon transition to the University of Miami, where she’ll have a shot at rebooting her game—and her image.
Miami’s women’s golf program is no joke. The five-time national champions are known for developing raw talent into elite competitors. Head Coach Janice Olivencia, who was in attendance during Kai’s latest tournament, hasn’t commented publicly on her recruit’s performance—but sources say she’s “still optimistic” about Kai’s long-term potential.
“She’s got a lot on her plate,” a Miami athletic department source told us. “But if she wants to be known as Kai the golfer—not just Kai the Trump—she’s going to have to tune out the noise. That’s not easy when the noise is wearing red hats and screaming your last name.”
As the political world continues to chase its next headline, one thing’s clear: for Kai Trump, the golf course is no longer a place of quiet focus. It’s a stage—and she’s still figuring out how to play on it.

But to her credit , she stuck with it and finished . Lesser individuals would have walked away . Dispite their ardor , Maga supporters need to learn to tone it down and respect the rights of others . Golf is a game of peaceful competition , not s political stage or rally .
So she’s not Tiger Woods, who is?
Hopefully MAGA supporters will see articles like this one and “tone it down” so this young lady Kai can focus on her game. Good luck in the future Kai!
