ABC’s long-running talk show, The View, has long been known for its fiery debates and no-holds-barred discussions. However, recent reports suggest that the show’s outspoken hosts are facing internal pressure to scale back their criticisms of President Donald Trump—leading to tension both on and off the screen.

According to multiple sources familiar with the production, The View’s executive producer, Brian Teta, has urged hosts to ease up on Trump-related commentary. “The mood has been grim,” one insider revealed. “It’s like walking on eggshells now. There’s a lot of frustration.”

Sources say the directive followed an incident in November, when the show was forced to issue multiple on-air disclaimers while discussing legal allegations involving Trump’s cabinet nominees. Since then, hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro have been more cautious, though tensions remain high.

Haines herself acknowledged on air that none of the panelists voted for Trump, conceding that this puts them out of step with a significant portion of the American electorate. Meanwhile, Griffin, a former Trump aide, has attempted to bring a more centrist perspective, at times clashing with Goldberg over finding common ground with Trump supporters.

Layoffs and Cost-Cutting Moves Shake Staff Confidence

Behind the scenes, job cuts have exacerbated morale issues. In late 2024, ABC News’ parent company, Disney, implemented a round of layoffs that affected The View. Among those let go were two respected senior producers, Jamie Hammer and Audrey Jones. “People were stunned,” a source close to the production said. “These were seasoned professionals, and now everyone is waiting to see who’s next.”

Adding to the unease, Disney recently settled a defamation lawsuit brought by Trump against ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos. The $16 million payout reportedly rattled executives, reinforcing the network’s cautious stance toward covering the former president.

Studio Drama and Logistical Headaches

As if internal politics weren’t enough, The View’s co-hosts are also grappling with physical space constraints. The show’s relocation to ABC News’ new headquarters in Hudson Square has created friction with The Tamron Hall Show, with both productions forced to share studio space and dressing rooms.

“Tamron thinks she’s Oprah,” one disgruntled staffer quipped. “She’s very particular, and it’s led to some awkward moments.”

Additionally, staffers complain about the new location, which they derisively refer to as “no man’s land” due to its inconvenient placement near the Holland Tunnel. “It’s cramped, and there aren’t enough desks,” said an ABC insider. “People are getting lockers instead of offices. It’s a downgrade.”

A network spokesperson pushed back against these criticisms, insisting that the building “has ample space and state-of-the-art facilities.” However, multiple sources maintain that the transition has been anything but smooth.

Ratings Hold Steady, But Uncertainty Looms

Despite the turmoil, The View has managed to maintain solid ratings, averaging 2.6 million viewers per episode since Trump’s re-election. However, ongoing speculation about the show’s future persists. Some executives are reportedly considering bringing in more conservative voices to counterbalance the predominantly liberal panel.

While an ABC insider denied any mandate to censor opinions, the growing tension behind the scenes tells a different story. “The energy is different,” another source admitted. “People are frustrated, and the pressure is real.”

  1. That is why it is being cancelled.  All elected officials are to be commented upon, both positively and negatively.  The View\’s sponsors must be pro-Trump and want to kill the criticism.  That doesn\’t look good when one considers that this nation was built by having freedom of the press.  The show seems to be assisting Trump in his desire to be Hitler reincarnated.  Dr. Schlatter

    1. I believe the reason the Management wants The Spew to dial back its rhetoric is … much of it is opinion, and not fact. And unverifiable. These women are far from being journalists.
Constantly calling Trump another H!tler is just proof these women like to shoot their mouths’ off , feeling Free Speech will save them. What these hens do is NOT free speech.
Conjecture and outright lying is NOT protected speech – it’s slander.

  2. Barbara Waters created a wholesome show with vivid discussions and opinions but didn’t like disrespecting guests or others who could not offer a differing opinion. There is no balance to this show. It is like professional attack dogs crude, rude, and down right mean. The only reason they get an audience is for other news outlets and talk shows to see what can be used of the filth that flows out of the hosts mouth for evening laughter and embarrassment. Totally class-less television. Why is Disney wasting more money on ridiculous TV shows? The hosts add nothing helpful and insightful for the country as a whole. Most have no knowledge of politics or world affairs. Actors who think they have insight, full rhetoric about the current day events. Professional pretenders women of apparent disgust and rudeness. Time to end this disgusting show. Don’t go away mad just go away. Your opinion’s suck and are disgusting it displays your total ignorance of the facts. This is not entertainment.

  3. Awe are their bosses finally curbing the hate they spew daily. Do the world a favor and cancel the entire rotten show.
