Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is facing a fresh political firestorm after he was caught on camera strolling through Europe with a woman widely described as his alleged mistress — while he remains legally married and locked in an increasingly competitive race for the U.S. Senate.

The Trump-backed Republican, 63, was filmed walking through London over the Fourth of July weekend with Christian influencer Tracy Duhon, 58, according to footage first reported by the Daily Mail.

In the clip, Paxton can be seen wearing a blue suit as he walks alongside Duhon, who is dressed in green. After apparently noticing someone filming behind him, Paxton suddenly picks up his pace and moves away before stopping and waiting for Duhon to catch up.

The awkward encounter came just days after the pair were reportedly spotted boarding a flight from Washington, D.C., to Reykjavík, Iceland, ahead of America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations.

Paxton’s decision to spend the patriotic holiday overseas quickly became ammunition for his Democratic opponent, Texas state Rep. James Talarico.

“Americans celebrated 250 years of independence from Britain this weekend. Ken Paxton spent it with the British,” Talarico wrote on X.

Social media users piled on after the footage surfaced.

“Oh jeez, we don’t want him. Take him back!” one person joked.

Another wrote, “Says a lot about the Texas electorate that this scumbag is tied with Talarico,” while a more cynical observer predicted, “Texas won’t care.”

The controversy could not come at a more delicate time for Paxton. Recent polling has shown the Republican nominee and Talarico locked in an extremely close contest ahead of the November 3 general election. A June University of Texas poll placed Paxton at 43 percent and Talarico at 42 percent, a statistically insignificant difference.

The images are also likely to revive uncomfortable questions about Paxton’s personal life.

Paxton is still legally married to Republican Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton, whom he wed in 1986. The couple share four children.

Angela filed for divorce in July 2025 after 38 years of marriage, publicly saying she had done so on “biblical grounds.” Court documents accused her husband of adultery and stated that the couple had stopped living together as spouses in June 2024.

The couple’s divorce trial had been scheduled for June 2026 but was canceled after their attorneys said the two sides had agreed to avoid a public trial. The divorce case, however, has not erased the political fallout surrounding Paxton’s alleged infidelity.

Allegations that Paxton had an extramarital affair previously became a major issue during his dramatic 2023 impeachment trial.

Paxton was accused of using the power of his office to benefit wealthy donor Nate Paul and of taking steps to conceal an alleged affair from his wife and the public. The impeachment articles included accusations of bribery, abuse of office and obstruction of justice.

The Republican-controlled Texas Senate ultimately acquitted Paxton on all impeachment counts, allowing him to remain attorney general.

Despite years of scandal, Paxton has continued climbing within Trump’s Republican Party.

With President Donald Trump’s endorsement, Paxton defeated longtime Sen. John Cornyn in the Republican Senate runoff in May, ending Cornyn’s two decades in the chamber. He will now face Talarico in November in a race that could become one of the most competitive Texas Senate battles in years.

Trump celebrated Paxton’s victory and predicted that he would become a “fantastic, common-sense senator,” while also launching a deeply personal tirade against Talarico.

The president called the 37-year-old Democrat “Alfred E. Neuman,” a reference to the cartoon mascot featured on the cover of Mad magazine. Trump went on to accuse Talarico of supporting open borders, being weak on crime, opposing the military and believing there are “six genders.” He also mocked Talarico for being a vegan and previously wearing masks.

Talarico largely brushed aside the attacks, arguing that voters have grown exhausted by what he described as “politics as professional wrestling.”

“You got these old guys lathered up in their fake tan, throwing corny nicknames at each other,” Talarico said during an interview with MS NOW.

“What people are hungry for is elected officials who are going to do the work, who are going to bring both parties together and pass legislation that’s actually going to make their lives easier and better and less stressful,” he continued. “And I’m putting my money on that. I really am.”

“I think that these nicknames and these personal attacks don’t actually meet the needs of Texans,” Talarico added.

Paxton has repeatedly survived controversies that would have ended the careers of many other politicians. But with the Texas Senate race balanced on a razor’s edge, his European getaway with Duhon may hand Democrats a powerful new argument: While Texans struggle with soaring living costs and prepare for a crucial election, the state’s Republican nominee was thousands of miles away, generating yet another scandal.
