Shania Twain is not letting the fashion police tell her what 60 is supposed to look like.
The country-pop superstar sparked a wave of online chatter after stepping onstage in a string of bold, barely-there looks while opening for Harry Styles at Wembley Stadium in London.
Twain, who turned 60, appeared as a special guest during Styles’ massive Together, Together run, where she performed in three dramatic Dolce & Gabbana outfits that had fans cheering — and critics clutching their pearls.
One look featured a strapless black corset top with a keyhole cutout, laced across the bust and paired with tiny black hot pants.
Another outfit was a glittering, ultra-short sequin minidress worn with knee-high black leather boots.
A third ensemble may have caused the biggest stir, with Twain rocking a black strapless bra, hot pants and a sheer sleeveless lace top.
While the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” singer proudly showed off the looks on Instagram, not everyone was impressed.
Some online critics accused Twain of trying too hard and refusing to “dress her age,” with one person asking simply, “Shania… why?”
Another wrote, “She’s still smoking hot, but c’mon. Have some dignity.”
A separate critic snapped, “This wouldn’t look good on a 20-year-old! It’s trashy at any age.”
Others went even further, with one commenter writing, “No one wants to see your granny panties, Shania,” while another added, “Sometimes… ya gotta realize, we’re all getting old and some things just aren’t appropriate anymore.”
But Twain does not seem bothered by the backlash.
In fact, she recently made it clear that she has no plans to hide her body just because she has reached a certain age.
“I have a 60-year-old body, but I will walk on the beach in my bikini,” Twain told The Independent. “I don’t really care if [people] are OK with it or not, right?”
The Canadian singer also gushed over her stage wardrobe in a June 19 Instagram post, saying the Dolce & Gabbana looks made her feel “gorgeous and confident.”
“I would like to indulge here for a moment and mention the @dolcegabbana looks you’re seeing me perform in each night at Wembley,” she wrote.
Twain said the moment felt especially emotional because her upcoming album, Little Miss Twain, has taken her back to her childhood dreams.
“Here I am, living my childhood dream, feeling gorgeous and confident, stepping out on stage in such beautiful and powerful D&G looks,” she wrote. “Little Miss Twain didn’t have anything, and now Shania Twain is so very, very grateful for all she has.”
The backlash comes as Twain has been opening up more about her body image journey.
The five-time Grammy winner previously admitted that during her 2019 Let’s Go! Las Vegas residency, she pushed herself too hard while trying to stay thin after gaining weight.
“I stopped looking at myself in the mirror. I hated my body,” she told The Sunday Times. “I was working my body more than I was feeding it to keep up with the strain.”
Now, Twain says she has reached a very different place.
“Now I’m, like, bring on the mirrors,” she said. “I’m going to look at myself all day long!”
Twain’s Wembley appearances marked her return to a major stage more than a year after wrapping her Come On Over – The Las Vegas Residency – All The Hits! at Planet Hollywood in February 2025.
And while critics may have plenty to say about her daring outfits, Twain appears to be sending one message loud and clear: she is not dressing for them.
