Scottish actor Iain Robertson has been found guilty of rape and domestic abuse following a disturbing case involving three women and allegations spanning more than 15 years.

The 45-year-old actor, known for his role in Band of Brothers and appearances in the Scottish soap River City, was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow on five charges connected to offenses that took place between 2004 and 2019.

The case painted a troubling picture of a man prosecutors described as violent, obsessive, and controlling in his relationships with women.

During the trial, jurors heard a pre-recorded statement from one rape victim who said she met Robertson while working on the set of River City. She described a complicated relationship in which Robertson allegedly refused to accept her boundaries and became fixated on the idea that she secretly wanted him.

“Iain was convinced I was in denial about having feelings for him and in denial about what I wanted,” she told the court.

The woman said Robertson raped her one night in either 2018 or 2019 at his apartment. She also accused him of performing other unwanted sexual acts on her.

Prosecutors said her claims were part of a wider pattern of troubling behavior involving multiple women over several years.

Another woman, who was also an actor, testified about Robertson’s allegedly obsessive behavior. She told the court he repeatedly called her and described one frightening moment when he “lunged” at her.

“I thought he was going to hit me,” she said.

Robertson was previously married to assistant director Judith Milne from 2006 to 2009.

Following the guilty verdict, Robertson was taken into custody. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 23.

The conviction marks a stunning fall for the once-recognizable television actor, whose career included appearances in major productions before the court case exposed what prosecutors said was a long-running pattern of abuse behind the scenes.
