Former CIA Director John Brennan is making explosive claims about what’s really happening behind the scenes inside Donald Trump’s administration — and according to him, not everyone inside the federal government is willing to fall in line.
During a fiery appearance on MSNBC with host Nicolle Wallace, Brennan alleged there is now a “legion” of career officials quietly resisting what he described as politically motivated pressure coming from Trump and his allies.
The comments immediately reignited the long-running war between Trump supporters and critics over the so-called “Deep State” — the belief that unelected government insiders secretly work against elected presidents.
Wallace asked Brennan what still exists inside the system to slow down what critics claim is Trump’s growing influence over agencies like the Department of Justice and the FBI.
Brennan responded by claiming there are still professionals inside the DOJ, CIA, and intelligence community refusing to carry out actions they believe cross ethical or legal lines.
“There’s still a legion of professionals,” Brennan said, referring to officials he claimed are resisting “politically motivated prosecutions” and refusing to participate in activities they believe conflict with the responsibilities of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
The former CIA chief argued that many career officials are now relying on courts and judges to act as a final safeguard against political pressure inside the government.
His remarks come at a particularly explosive moment, as reports surfaced that the FBI has been interviewing current and former CIA officers tied to the agency’s controversial handling of the 2016 Russia investigation.
According to reports, investigators are closely examining Brennan’s role in the intelligence assessment that concluded Russia attempted to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.
The renewed scrutiny centers in part around the infamous Steele dossier — the unverified collection of allegations about Trump’s alleged ties to Russia that became one of the most controversial political documents in modern American history.
Brennan previously testified to Congress that the CIA “was not involved at all with the dossier,” but Republicans, including House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, have challenged that claim.
Jordan accused Brennan of downplaying concerns raised by intelligence officials who allegedly warned that the dossier contained serious flaws before it was included in intelligence discussions surrounding Russia’s election interference.
In a letter pushing for criminal prosecution, Jordan claimed Brennan ignored warnings from CIA leaders who questioned the credibility of the material.
The political battle has only intensified as Brennan continues publicly attacking Trump.
The former CIA director recently stunned critics by suggesting the 25th Amendment — which allows for the removal of a president deemed unable to fulfill the duties of office — was practically “written with Donald Trump in mind.”
Brennan made the comments after Trump issued dramatic warnings during escalating tensions involving Iran, including remarks critics described as reckless and inflammatory.
“This person is clearly unhinged,” Brennan said of Trump during one television appearance.
Even some former Trump allies have begun openly turning on the president over his rhetoric surrounding foreign conflicts.
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene sparked backlash after posting “25TH AMENDMENT!” on social media following Trump’s comments about Iran, calling the situation “evil and madness.”
The latest war of words is fueling even more division inside Washington as Trump barrels toward another high-stakes political showdown — with critics warning America’s institutions are being pushed to the breaking point while supporters argue entrenched government insiders are attempting to undermine the president from within.

A professional would not just be someone that refuses to do Trump or Republican dirty work. They’d also refuse to do Democrat or anti-Trump dirty work.
Obama packed everything he could with political operatives, or appointed people who would.. I doubt they’re all gone yet…but I would NOT call them professionals.
Brennan is a liar, a traitor, a felon and allegedly a convert to Islam. The man is going to be indicted soon and he is going to be convicted. He belongs in prison. I make these statements as a retired FBI Agent and attorney.
