A routine trip home turned into a horrifying ordeal for a 12-year-old boy in Melbourne, Australia, after he was allegedly dragged nearly 400 yards by a school bus when his arm and backpack became trapped in the vehicle’s closing door.
According to his mother, Grace, the terrifying incident happened on March 16 as her son, Nathaniel, was getting off the bus. She said the rear door shut before he had fully stepped out, catching him and leaving him partially outside the vehicle as it pulled away.
Instead of stopping, the bus reportedly kept moving for about 350 meters, forcing the boy to cling to the door rail while lifting his legs to avoid being slammed against the road or hit by passing cars.
CCTV footage shared by the family appears to back up the family’s account, showing Nathaniel stuck alongside the moving bus in a scene that is difficult to watch. The nightmare only ended when the driver opened the door at a later stop, finally freeing him.
While Nathaniel survived the incident, the emotional scars appear to be lingering. His mother said he is now dealing with anxiety and receiving psychological support as the family tries to process what happened.
The bus operator, Ventura, has since apologized and launched an investigation. According to News.com.au, the company later fired the driver involved. Victoria Premier Jacinta Allan also reacted to the footage, calling it “shocking” and saying her thoughts were with the boy and his family.
For many parents, the incident is raising disturbing questions about school bus safety, accountability, and how a child could be left in such obvious danger for so long without the vehicle stopping.
What should have been an ordinary ride home became a traumatic moment no family should ever have to endure.

What I want to know is why did the mother stand there filming and not running after the bus to get the Divers attention?
