A routine stop at a local restaurant turned into an unthinkable nightmare after a young Kentucky mother-to-be was allegedly gunned down over something as small as a car horn.

Authorities say 22-year-old Ava Woodcock and her unborn baby both lost their lives after a violent confrontation in a parking lot outside Annie’s Restaurant in Glasgow. What started as a minor moment—Woodcock honking her horn—quickly spiraled into deadly chaos.

According to police, Woodcock had just pulled into the lot when she honked in the direction of 24-year-old Brandon Bond, who was across the street. Investigators say Bond responded by opening fire on the young mother, striking her while she sat behind the wheel.

The terrifying scene didn’t end there. After being shot, Woodcock’s vehicle reportedly rolled forward uncontrollably before crashing, leaving bystanders stunned and scrambling for help.

She was first rushed to T.J. Samson Community Hospital before being airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition. Despite desperate efforts to save her, doctors confirmed her unborn child had already died from the gunfire. Woodcock herself succumbed to her injuries the following day.

Bond allegedly fled the scene, disappearing into a wooded area behind a nearby recycling facility. Police later tracked him down and took him into custody. Officials say he had been drinking and was uncooperative during booking.

He now faces a series of serious charges, including murder, first-degree fetal homicide, and fleeing or evading police. During his arraignment, a judge set his bond at a staggering $2 million. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 16.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community—and devastated a family now grieving the loss of both a daughter and a grandchild. Woodcock leaves behind a one-year-old daughter.

In a heart-wrenching Facebook post, her mother, Amanda Eversole, expressed raw anger and grief, blasting the accused gunman and mourning the loss of what she called “one of God’s precious babies.”

Meanwhile, an outpouring of support has flooded in online. A GoFundMe created to help the family cover funeral expenses and care for Woodcock’s young child has already raised thousands, nearing its goal within days.

Friends, neighbors, and strangers alike have shared messages of heartbreak and disbelief, calling the shooting “senseless” and “devastating.”

A candlelight vigil is set to take place this Saturday in Glasgow, where the community will come together to honor the young mother and the life that never had a chance to begin.

What should have been an ordinary day ended in unimaginable loss—all over a split-second moment that turned deadly.
