President Donald Trump launched another blistering attack on the media over the weekend, taking direct aim at longtime New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman in a fiery post on Truth Social.
The 79-year-old president blasted the Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist on Saturday, accusing her of publishing false reports about him and even suggesting she could soon become part of his ongoing lawsuit against the newspaper.
Trump posted a photo of Haberman alongside a message that quickly drew attention online.
“Maggot Hagerman, just another SLEAZEBAG writer for The Failing New York Times, insists on writing false stories about me,” Trump wrote. “Even though she fully knows and understands that the exact opposite of anything she says is usually the truth.”
The president didn’t stop there. Trump also hinted that Haberman herself could soon face legal trouble tied to his fight with the paper.
“In any event, I’m thinking of adding Maggot, and some of her ‘associates,’ into my Florida-based lawsuit against The Times,” Trump wrote, adding that the case appears to be “proceeding nicely.”
Haberman has covered Trump for years and is widely considered one of the journalists most closely associated with reporting on his political career. She shared a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 with colleagues for coverage of Trump advisers and their alleged ties to Russia.
She also authored the bestselling 2022 book Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America, which explored Trump’s rise to power and the inner workings of his political circle.
According to reports, Haberman and fellow New York Times reporter Jonathan Swan are currently working on another book about Trump and his political orbit.
It’s not entirely clear what sparked Trump’s latest online tirade. Haberman’s most recent article about the president was published more than a week earlier and focused on the firing of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Earlier this month, Haberman also appeared on CNN to discuss the Trump administration’s handling of the escalating conflict with Iran. During that segment, she spoke with CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins, another journalist who has frequently clashed with the president.
Trump’s attack on Haberman is just the latest example of his long-running battles with reporters. Over the years, the president has repeatedly sparred with members of the press during interviews, rallies, and press briefings.
Just last month, Trump snapped at Washington Post reporter Natalie Allison during a question about immigration while speaking aboard Air Force One, dismissing both her question and the newspaper’s readership.
Collins has also been a frequent target. Trump has previously labeled the CNN anchor “stupid” and “nasty” during tense exchanges with reporters.
Now, with Trump hinting at possible legal action against Haberman herself, the feud between the president and one of his most persistent chroniclers appears far from over.
