Even Trump’s most loyal Hollywood allies are recoiling after his Truth Social rant blaming the slain filmmaker’s death on “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

For years, Rob Schneider has defended Donald Trump when few in Hollywood would. But not this time.

Following the shocking murder of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, even some of Trump’s biggest celebrity supporters are publicly condemning the president’s response — a callous Truth Social post that appeared to mock the liberal icon’s death.

“America’s supposed to be better than this,” Schneider said during an emotional appearance Tuesday on The Will Cain Show on Fox. “We can disagree without losing our humanity. What the president said was beneath the office. He has to rise above it — but he seems incapable of doing that.”

Schneider, who famously left the Democratic Party in 2013 and endorsed Trump in 2024 after Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign collapsed, pleaded with the president to “move away from this rhetoric of anger.”

“Say something kind, even about someone who disagreed with you,” Schneider added. “Maybe: ‘He made great films, he was a great artist, may he rest in peace.’ That’s what leadership sounds like.”

The outrage erupted after Trump posted a lengthy Truth Social rant hours after police confirmed that Reiner and his wife had been found dead in their Los Angeles home. The couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick, has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Instead of offering condolences, the president wrote that Reiner’s death was connected to his supposed “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” a phrase he used to describe critics who “go crazy” over his policies.

“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife… reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Trump wrote.

He ended the post, bizarrely, with: “May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

The message immediately went viral — and not in Trump’s favor. Even prominent conservatives called it “tone-deaf,” “ghoulish,” and “classless.”

Actor James Woods, who starred in Reiner’s 1996 film Ghosts of Mississippi, said he was “infuriated and disgusted” by Trump’s words.

“When people say horrible things about Rob right now, I find it infuriating and distasteful,” Woods told Jesse Watters Primetime. “Rob Reiner gave me a second chance in my career. I love and respect the man. He didn’t deserve this.”

Former Breitbart editor Raheem Kassam echoed the sentiment, posting, “Don’t love this, to be honest.”

Even Republican Rep. Thomas Massie — usually a Trump ally — weighed in on X: “Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered.”

Massie then accused GOP leaders of cowardice: “I guess my colleagues and White House staff will just ignore it because they’re afraid?”

And in a rare break from the MAGA base, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene told CNN that Trump’s post was “classless.”

The murder of Rob and Michele Reiner has shaken both Hollywood and Washington. The 78-year-old director was best known for The Princess BrideWhen Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men — films that defined a generation.

“He was a giant of American cinema,” said UCLA film historian Marcus Eldridge. “The kind of storyteller who captured both humor and humanity. To see his life end like this, and then see it politicized by the president — it’s heartbreaking.”

While the White House has not responded to requests for comment, aides privately told Axios that Trump “stands by his statement” and views the backlash as “overblown.”

For many, though, it’s a reminder of the chaos that has defined Trump’s second term — and the growing discomfort, even among his most loyal followers, with a president who seems unable to show restraint.

“Leadership isn’t about winning every fight,” Schneider said on Fox. “It’s about knowing when to stop fighting.”

    1. More of usual NextGen evil nonsense…
Reiner was even more of an evil stupid MEATHEAD in real life than any evil character he ever played… he said all kinds of evil stupid things on Twitter/’X’… no surprise he raised a sicko son like himself…
Poetic Justice is what happened to Rob Reiner…

  1. The bird flew home to roost. Trial will be interesting if the mainstream media doesn’t run cover. Won’t rely on nextgennews for the truth.

  2. Truth matters. I’ll take honesty over lies any time. President Trump took a lot of crap from this guy and so many others in Hollywood. Way I see it is if you can’t take then don’t dish it out. Because of people like this guy in Hollywood so many Americans are not supporting them anymore. Yes no one deserves to be murdered anywhere ad sorry for what happened to them. But also be honest this man hated President Trump and his supporters and made sure we all knew it. People don’t deserve to be told what to do by Hollywood thugs just because of their party affiliation and who they are, yet this guy made sure everyone knew he hated President Trump. Two tier system in society just as bad as two tier system of justice. So sad how the democrats weaponized the government and with all the help of Hollywood. Where does it say it’s only ok for democrats do things but not republicans. Hatred in America right now is to be blamed on democrats. They have turned our world upside down on purpose. Power and greed by those elites that are so corrupt and still are. Sick of people whinny when feelings get hurt.

  3. What trump said was unexcusable.whether he liked him or not.tslking about him like that after he and his wife were just brutally murdered is crazy.but I\’m sure trump has no sympathy for anyone but himself.hes a sick sick guy.R.I.P Rob and Michele

  4. There have been disqusting remarks made about Donald Trump by many, including Rob Reiner! Remember The Idse Of March remake with Trump being stabbed to death? How about his severed head feld in the air by that red-headed female comedian?
Atleast President Donald J. Trump isn’t acting like a hypocrite, like so many do?
