Trump Insider ‘Burns Down’ White House with Shocking Tell-All

The walls of Donald Trump’s second White House may finally be cracking — and the spark came from the woman who once kept it all together.

Susie Wiles, the famously stoic political strategist who rose to become Trump’s chief of staff, has detonated Washington with a scathing tell-all that paints a portrait of chaos, paranoia, and power unchecked.

“I told the truth,” Wiles said in one interview. “There’s no point in pretending it’s something it’s not anymore.”

For nearly a year, insiders whispered that Wiles — dubbed “the Ice Queen” for her calm amid Trump’s volcanic temper — was the only adult left in the room. Her tell-all, compiled through a series of 11 interviews with journalist Chris Whipple, exposes just how combustible that room had become.

Whipple, the veteran CBS 60 Minutes producer and author of The Gatekeepers, was given rare access to the West Wing under Trump’s second term. What he found, through Wiles’s eyes, was less “America First” and more “every man for himself.”

“She was trying to manage a government like a family with an alcoholic father,” one longtime Trump adviser told Vanity Fair. “You never knew what mood he’d be in until you walked into the room.”

Wiles, 68, grew up learning to navigate volatility. Her father, sportscaster Pat Summerall, battled alcoholism — a struggle she’s said shaped how she handles difficult men. That experience proved disturbingly relevant when dealing with Trump.

“Trump has an alcoholic’s personality,” she told Whipple bluntly. “The same highs, the same denials, the same need for control.”

According to excerpts shared ahead of the book’s release, Wiles describes a White House powered by impulse and fear. Staffers were kept on edge by constant purges and surprise directives — not unlike the chaos of Trump’s first administration chronicled in Fire and Fury.

The difference this time, she says, was that the dysfunction was more polished. “It was the same circus,” she told Whipple. “Just with better lighting.”

Wiles also lifts the curtain on Trump’s inner circle, which she describes as “a government built on vibes.”

She claims Elon Musk — appointed to lead the newly minted Department of Government Efficiency — regularly microdosed ketamine and made “reckless, headline-driven decisions,” including the abrupt shutdown of USAID.

“It wasn’t policy,” she said. “It was performance art.”

She also recounts being overruled when she urged the president not to announce sweeping tariff hikes without warning. “We needed to fix domestic problems first,” she said. “But he wanted a win on TV.”

Her account exposes deeper fissures inside the administration. She describes Senator JD Vance as “calculating and conspiratorial,” Pam Bondi as “unprepared” during the botched Epstein files release, and the president as “still believing rules don’t apply to him.”

“Trump thinks being president means you get to do whatever you want,” Wiles reportedly told Whipple. “He never really left reality television behind.”

Even so, she insists her loyalty was to the country, not the man. “My job was to keep the government running,” she said. “Even when it was running on fumes.”

The revelations have rattled even Trump allies. One senior campaign aide, speaking anonymously, called it “a betrayal wrapped in therapy.” Others see it as confirmation of what the public already suspected: that Trump’s return to power has plunged Washington back into chaos.

“Susie Wiles gave us the first honest look inside Trump’s second presidency,” Democratic strategist Tara McGuire told Axios. “And it’s every bit as dystopian as we feared.”

As for Wiles herself, she’s said she’s “done protecting the myth.”

“You can’t keep putting out fires,” she told Whipple. “At some point, you realize the whole house is burning.”
