In a tragic and freak accident on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 8, a pedestrian was killed after a swarm of bees got loose inside a pickup truck in Mesa, Arizona, about 20 miles east of downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

The driver was transporting the bees when they escaped and began stinging. During the chaos, the driver experienced a medical emergency, lost control of the vehicle, struck a pedestrian, and crashed into a pole.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at Mesa Drive and McKellips Road. Both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead, while the driver was treated for minor injuries and is expected to survive.

The identities of the pedestrian and the driver have not been released, and authorities have not yet indicated whether any charges will be filed. Early reports initially suggested two people were in the vehicle, but it was later confirmed that only the driver was inside at the time of the crash.
