President Donald Trump’s health is once again under scrutiny after the 79-year-old appeared to nod off during a White House dinner with Central Asian leaders — prompting Vice President JD Vance to step in and field tough questions on his behalf.
Witnesses at Thursday night’s dinner described an uncomfortable scene: the president’s eyelids drooping, his head bobbing, and a noticeable lack of focus as the event dragged on. When a journalist asked about Kazakhstan, Trump mumbled, “You want to answer that, please?” before turning to Vance, who immediately launched into a response.

Minutes later, when Fox News pressed the administration on the ongoing congressional shutdown, Trump once again deferred. “You wanna go with it?” he muttered — handing off yet another question to his running mate.
“Frankly, it was awkward,” one attendee told reporters. “The vice president looked prepared to jump in, almost like he expected it.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom wasted no time capitalizing on the viral footage of the visibly exhausted president. On X (formerly Twitter), Newsom posted a zoomed-in image of Trump’s closed eyes, captioned in all caps: “DOZY DON IS BACK!”
The governor’s post exploded online, with users piling on.
“After all the years he mocked ‘Sleepy Joe,’ this is poetic justice,” one user wrote. Another commented, “Healthy people don’t fall asleep in front of world leaders. Something’s not right.”
This isn’t the first time Newsom has taken aim at Trump’s stamina. Just weeks earlier, he mocked the president for appearing to doze off during a national security roundtable, joking that he thought it was “a still image” before realizing Trump was simply motionless on camera.
Behind the scenes, White House insiders are whispering about an unannounced MRI that reportedly took place last week — one officials refused to discuss publicly. Sources told veteran journalist Seymour Hersh that concerns about Trump’s “increasing mental disorganization” have been mounting among Cabinet members.
“He loses his train of thought mid-sentence and jumps topics constantly,” one senior official told Hersh. “Some of us are genuinely worried.”
Trump, who often boasts of his “perfect health” and claims to have “the best memory of any president ever,” has nevertheless shown erratic behavior and fatigue during recent appearances. In his speech to U.S. military leaders last month, he once again bragged about “ending seven wars,” though aides could not clarify which conflicts he was referring to.
Clinical psychologist Dr. Harry Segal, a longtime observer of Trump’s behavior, told MSNBC that the president’s conduct is “deeply concerning.”
“Trump’s narcissistic personality traits are well-documented,” Segal said. “But now, we’re seeing cognitive lapses that align with early dementia symptoms — confusion, repetition, fatigue.”
Dr. John Gartner, a psychotherapist who has studied Trump for years, agreed: “There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that what we’re seeing is dementia. The denial only delays what’s inevitable.”
When pressed about the president’s health, a White House spokesperson insisted Trump was “in excellent condition” and merely “jet-lagged” after “several long days of national security meetings.” But critics weren’t buying it.
“Falling asleep during a state dinner isn’t jet lag — it’s a crisis,” said former Obama advisor David Axelrod. “The American people deserve transparency about what’s really going on.”
As President Trump barrels toward the 2026 midterms, questions about his physical and mental endurance threaten to overshadow his agenda. Meanwhile, VP JD Vance — once seen as a loyal understudy — is increasingly viewed as the administration’s de facto spokesperson.
Whether Trump’s latest “Dozy Don” episode is a passing moment or a symptom of deeper decline remains to be seen. But for now, Washington insiders are quietly asking: who’s really running the country?

President Trump needs to get more sleep and rest! The pace he keeps is unimaginable for anyone, including much younger people! Flying across the world, coming back and immediately entertaining some foreign diplomat at the White House, then having lunch or dinner with the guest and his cabinet has got to be stressful.
Give him a break! He has the best cabinet in many years that can pick up the slack if needed. He has made this country safer,
richer and more stable since he has been in office! So President Trump, take some time out for yourself; get plenty of rest,
go golfing and don’t worry about what these Liberals say. Every time you appear on television, they look for the least little thing they can criticize you for!
