Hollywood icon Jeff Daniels just turned prime-time TV into protest art — and he did it with a guitar.
The Dumb and Dumber star, 70, appeared on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House Wednesday, serenading host Nicolle Wallace with a self-penned tune inspired by the weekend’s massive “No Kings” demonstrations against President Donald Trump.
“I wrote this one called Crazy World,” Daniels said before strumming. “It’s how I cope.”
The gentle acoustic number — part love letter, part lament — painted a softer side of resistance, celebrating small joys like an old couple holding hands or a wagging dog’s tail. “It’s nice to know in a world full of hate, there’s someone out there still making love,” he sang, as Wallace smiled.
The moment followed a nationwide show of dissent: nearly seven million Americans hit the streets from D.C. to L.A. in what organizers called the peaceful No Kings marches — a sprawling rebuke of Trump’s second-term agenda.
Predictably, Trump allies slammed the movement. House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed the rallies as “Hate America” gatherings and “satire-approved.” Trump himself jumped in with a bizarre AI-generated clip of him flying a fighter jet and dumping brown sludge over protesters — a post his team later insisted was “humor.”
Daniels, who has never hidden his disdain for Trump, used his MSNBC visit to take a quieter swing. He told Wallace the president’s economic promises — especially on lowering grocery costs — were falling flat. “People who voted for him just because they didn’t want Kamala Harris are noticing things still cost more,” he said.
The two-time Emmy winner wrapped the segment strumming the last lines of Crazy World, turning cable news into a campfire moment — and proving Hollywood protest doesn’t always need a megaphone, just a melody.

Jeff Daniels is a talented actor, guitarist and singer. It’s a shame he is so stupid with it comes to America and it’s well recorded history. The Democrats whom he supports 100% of the time since 1829 when the party was created has worked non-stop to destroy these United States and they’ve accomplished irreparable harm. We are a nation divided as a direct result of the policies of Democrats. This party shows no support for our founding documents, has never believed in the statement “all men are created equal” and has never supported unalienable rights. Their God, like all leftist movements is the party, no different from Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao, Ho, the Castro brothers or people like Maduro in Venezuela. They swear allegiance to their personal power and nothing more. When faced with the historical record they deal in revisionist history. When that fails they resort to violence and incoherent nonsense. Their “No King’s Day” was a perfext example of a group of incoherent morons many in costume spouting irrelevant absurdities that make any thinking person feel sorry for them. To go through life that stupid must be painful and lonely.
