Former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are reportedly bracing for possible legal action, as the Trump administration sharpens its sights on two of its fiercest historical adversaries in what critics are calling an unprecedented abuse of executive power.
According to multiple sources close to the White House, President Donald Trump—now in his second non-consecutive term—is “actively considering” the prosecution of Obama and Clinton over what loyalists have branded “the Russia hoax” and other so-called deep state conspiracies.
“This isn’t about justice. It’s about vengeance,” said a former senior Justice Department official who resigned in protest earlier this year. “We are watching a sitting president use the machinery of the federal government to punish political enemies. This is what autocracy looks like.”
The push to target Obama and Clinton gained fresh momentum this week after far-right commentator and Trump surrogate Benny Johnson used his popular podcast to claim “real legal trouble” is imminent for both Democratic figures.
“Those communists who accused Donald Trump of crimes are guilty of the crimes themselves,” Johnson said in a tirade on The Benny Show, directly referencing Clinton’s role in promoting the Russia investigation and Obama-era intelligence officials.
Johnson’s comments echo sentiments recently shared by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, who previously accused Clinton and Obama of “orchestrating a coup” against Trump during his first term.
“The Russia collusion hoax remains the single greatest act of political sabotage in American history,” Miller said on Fox News earlier this year. “It was a coup, and it’s time these traitors faced real consequences.”
If this all sounds like political theater, consider this: the Trump administration has already overseen the indictments of several former officials linked to past criticisms of Trump.
Former FBI Director James Comey was indicted earlier this summer on charges of obstruction and making false statements to Congress regarding the Bureau’s handling of leaks during the 2020 election cycle. Comey, who famously clashed with Trump over Russia and the firing of Michael Flynn, has called the charges “politically motivated nonsense.”
“This is a Stalinist show trial,” Comey said outside the courthouse in June. “There is no justice under this administration—only loyalty tests.”
Also indicted: Former National Security Adviser John Bolton, who once described Trump as “unfit for office” in his 2020 memoir The Room Where It Happened. A federal grand jury charged Bolton with mishandling classified national security information. He has pleaded not guilty and is preparing to go to trial in early 2026.
Despite public denials from the White House Press Office, multiple administration insiders—speaking under condition of anonymity—have confirmed that a task force within the Department of Justice is reviewing past intelligence operations from 2016 to 2020.
Specifically, the administration is reexamining the origins of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation, the Steele dossier, and the 2016 FISA warrants targeting Trump campaign associates. Clinton’s alleged role in “approving” the narrative that Trump colluded with Russia is also under scrutiny, with some right-wing officials calling for her immediate arrest.
“The President believes what happened to him in 2016 was treason,” said a Trump campaign advisor. “And he won’t rest until every single person involved is held accountable—starting with Obama and Clinton.”
Prominent Democrats are denouncing the developments as a dangerous escalation of authoritarian politics.
“We are sliding into a constitutional crisis,” warned Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). “This is the kind of banana republic behavior we used to criticize abroad. Now it’s coming from inside the Oval Office.”
“These aren’t prosecutions—they’re persecutions,” added Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). “And history will remember who stood by and let this happen.”
As the 2026 midterms loom and Trump’s approval ratings hover around 44%, the legal and political battles ahead promise to further polarize a nation already reeling from years of upheaval.
Whether or not charges are ultimately brought against Obama and Clinton, the damage to democratic norms may already be done.
“Trump doesn’t need a conviction,” said historian Timothy Snyder. “He only needs the spectacle. And in this case, that might be more terrifying than the trials themselves.”

As to Hillary if any of your readers destroyed 30,000 emails and smashed phones and computers to avoid turning over evidence after getting a congressional subpoena and they’d be in prison for 25 years not promoting their book! She belongs in prison and it’s long over do!

Amazing how it’s a “constitutional crisis” when a Republican President insists on following our Constitution the rule of law but when Democrats aka socialist/fascists openly violate both the Constitution and the federal criminal code it’s perfectly fine. I’m retired FBI and our files are replete with evidence of the Clinton’s criminal actitivies going back to their political careers in Arkansas. Obama was and remains a pathetic loser whose entire aura was a fabrication. Fast and Furious, openly targeting conservative non-profits, supporting the downfall of the Egyptian leader to be replaced by the Muslim Brotherhood, the oldest Islamic terror organization on the planet on and on.
