President Donald Trump, 79, says he’s not counting on divine mercy.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, the president conceded that his chances of entering heaven aren’t great — a rare moment of humility from a man who’s built his career on confidence and bravado.

“I mean, you know, I’m being a little cute,” Trump told Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy when asked if he thought he’d earned a spot in heaven. “I don’t think there’s anything that’s going to get me in heaven, okay? I think I’m not maybe heaven-bound.”

He then added with a grin, “I may be in heaven right now as we fly in Air Force One. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make heaven, but I’ve made life a lot better for a lot of people.”

The “Heaven Campaign”

The comment came days after Trump’s latest public disappointment — losing his years-long push for a Nobel Peace Prize after attempting to broker a last-minute Israel-Hamas ceasefire.

Those close to the president say his focus on “getting to heaven” has become something of a running theme in recent months. In August, he told Fox News he wanted to end the Russia-Ukraine war to “try and get to heaven if possible,” adding, “I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I hear I’m really at the bottom of the totem pole.”

Trump even turned the sentiment into a fundraising pitch. His Super PAC, Make America Great Again Inc., blasted out a mass email that began, “Friend, I want to try and get to Heaven,” tying salvation to political donations in true Trump fashion.

“Everything’s a campaign to him,” said Dr. Melissa Han, a political science professor at Georgetown University. “Even the afterlife becomes a marketing opportunity when it’s Trump. He knows how to turn faith into fundraising.”

Faith and Politics Collide

Since returning to the White House in 2025, Trump has leaned heavily on Christian nationalist rhetoric, signing executive orders aimed at “eradicating anti-Christian bias” and instituting a weekly “national hour of prayer.”

He’s also repeatedly linked his survival of last year’s assassination attempts to divine purpose. “God spared me for a reason,” he said in a March rally in Ohio. “He wants me to finish the job.”

Critics say the president’s version of faith is self-serving and politically convenient. Reverend Carla Jennings of the United Methodist Church in Chicago told MSNBC, “Trump treats religion like a brand partnership. But faith isn’t transactional — you can’t buy your way into heaven with Bible sales and policy stunts.”

The Business of Belief

Indeed, Trump has managed to merge religion and revenue. His $99 “God Bless the USA” Bibles — manufactured in China — have sold out multiple times online, according to campaign insiders.

“The irony isn’t lost on anyone,” quipped Democratic strategist Lila Perez. “A man who’s bragged about never asking God for forgiveness is now selling scripture like it’s Trump Steaks.”

Even as he jokes about his chances at the pearly gates, the president continues to court evangelical voters who view him as a divinely chosen figure — flawed but ordained.

“Trump may not believe he’s going to heaven,” said Perez, “but he knows how to keep his followers praying he stays in the White House.”

  1. Sad that folks do not understand Scripture. Our salvation rests on what Jesus did for us on the cross. It is our faith in Him that gives us blessed assurance of salvation and wipes out the debt of sin.

  2. I’m sure of one thing, DJT should know the Lord, save his life, more than once. That should be a sign, whatever your doing, the Lord has shed light on the good u are doing. All one has to do, is accept the Lord, as your savior, u will be saved. President Trump needs to stop being so negative, and accept the good that he has brought to the country. It was almost destroyed by last administration, u have brought it back, and put the world at an unusual place. Trust the Lord, u will make it to heaven, with all believers, with exception of the death party dummycraps, who love death, and illegals.

  3. Perident Trump you are God's chosen one all you need to do is get aks Jesus into your heart and you will get to heaven we love you and are praying for you every day di t let your mind play tricks on you God loves you have a blessed day says:
  4. god doesn’t accept child molesters. may he have more pain than any human ever b4 dying. god said, suffer the little , but fucking them, i somehow think was EVEN considered.

  5. Here are three verses that are the prerequisites for entrance into Heaven:
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
