Fox News personality Brian Kilmeade has sparked outrage after floating a chilling “solution” to America’s homelessness crisis: state-sanctioned killing.
“Involuntary lethal injection, or something,” Kilmeade declared on Fox & Friends. When co-hosts looked puzzled, he doubled down: “Just kill them.”
The clip, which resurfaced online Saturday, spread like wildfire across social media. “I couldn’t believe my ears,” said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). “This isn’t policy. It’s fascism on morning television.”
The rhetoric comes amid President Donald Trump’s second-term crackdown on urban homelessness. Earlier this year, Trump ordered a police takeover of Washington, D.C., citing crime and “filth” tied to unhoused communities. It was one of the most extreme interventions in the capital since Reconstruction.
“D.C. looks like a Third World country,” Trump raged on Truth Social last month. “The tents are disgusting. The people are dangerous. I won’t stand for it.”
Behind the policy push is Trump’s deputy chief Stephen Miller, who has long framed homelessness as a cultural and political weapon. On Fox News this week, Miller claimed: “The Democrat Party is terrorizing the American people. Their catch-and-release policies for barbarians and savages are acts of terror themselves.”
Kilmeade’s incendiary remarks followed the Aug. 22 murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian immigrant Iryna Zarutska in North Carolina. Police arrested Decarlos Brown Jr., a Black man with schizophrenia who was unhoused at the time. Brown told a judge he believed “a material implanted” in his body forced him to kill.
Far-right commentators have since weaponized Zarutska’s killing, pushing racially charged narratives. Trump himself called Brown “AN ANIMAL” and demanded “a quick trial and THE DEATH PENALTY.”
“This is the Trump playbook,” said civil rights attorney Maya Wiley. “Find a horrific case, amplify it, racialize it, and then use it to justify inhumane crackdowns.”
Reaction to Kilmeade’s “just kill them” prescription has been fierce. “Call me crazy, Brian Kilmeade, but don’t you think we are better than euthanizing homeless people?” wrote Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) on X. “Sure, lock up violent criminals. But when did we forget the Bible’s story of the weary traveler?”
Homeless advocates point out that America’s unhoused population has reached nearly 800,000, driven by skyrocketing rents, lack of mental health care, and wages that no longer cover basics.
“Fox News isn’t offering solutions,” said Nan Roman, president of the National Alliance to End Homelessness. “They’re offering hate. And when the president and his allies endorse this rhetoric, it puts real lives in danger.”

Kill our homeless and support illegal immigrants Let’s kill illegals. Makes more sense
Remove them from the streets voluntarily into mental health clinics. If they won’t go then remove them involunarily. The same policy should be implemented against violent gang groups. The police know who they are so give every one of them a chance to clean up their act voluntarily. If they refuse then remove them from society,
You and I are the only ones that press for a realistic solution.
Thank you,
