Trump Swarmed by Protesters Comparing Him Hitler While Eating (Video)

President Donald Trump’s attempt at a quiet night out in Washington erupted into chaos Tuesday after activists stormed a high-end steakhouse, chanting “Trump is the Hitler of our time” and demanding “Free Palestine!”

The rare public outing took place at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab, just one block from the White House. Trump was joined by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth — a powerful display of his inner circle as his administration tightens control over the nation’s capital.

But not everyone was impressed.

The demonstration was organized by CODEPINK, a well-known feminist anti-war group, which has spent months mobilizing against Trump’s aggressive foreign and domestic policies.

In video captured by protesters, Trump pauses briefly as activists shout accusations of authoritarianism and genocide before signaling for security to remove them.

Medea Benjamin, CODEPINK’s cofounder, told reporters after the incident:

“While Trump, JD Vance, Marco Rubio, and Pete Hegseth feasted on steak, we stood our ground and told them the truth: Free DC. Free Palestine. Trump is the Hitler of our time. Two years into genocide, Gaza is under evacuation orders, Puerto Rico and Venezuela are in the crosshairs, and the Pentagon openly calls itself the Department of War. He looked us in the eyes. We made sure he’ll never dine in peace while communities are under siege.”

Inside the restaurant, Trump dismissed the confrontation and doubled down on his messaging.

“We have a safe city now, can you imagine?” he told cheering diners, according to cell phone footage from the scene. “Enjoy yourselves. You won’t be mugged going home.”

Supporters erupted into applause, but outside, tensions continued to mount as protesters vowed to escalate demonstrations against Trump’s sweeping crackdowns.

Tuesday night’s confrontation comes amid escalating concerns over Trump’s unprecedented deployment of federal power in Democratic strongholds.

On August 11, Trump declared a “public-safety emergency” in Washington, federalizing the Metropolitan Police Department and deploying National Guard troops throughout the district. Similar measures have already been enacted in Los Angeles, and the administration has openly threatened to extend troop deployments to Baltimore, New Orleans, and Chicago.

Local leaders argue the moves are politically motivated and amount to a federal takeover of Democratic cities. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson warned last week:

“This is about control, not safety. The people of Chicago don’t want soldiers patrolling their streets. We won’t be intimidated.”

Trump, meanwhile, appears eager to escalate. On September 6, he posted a meme referencing the Vietnam War classic Apocalypse Now, depicting helicopters swarming Chicago under a fiery orange sky.

Footage of the steakhouse clash immediately went viral. Democratic influencer Harry Sisson praised the protesters in a widely shared post on X (formerly Twitter):

“Trump just got publicly confronted by activists at a restaurant in DC: ‘FREE DC, FREE PALESTINE, TRUMP IS THE HITLER OF OUR TIME!’ I respect the hell out of them for standing up.”

Conservative outlets, however, spun a different narrative. Right-wing commentator Nick Sorto posted:

“MASSIVE cheers for Trump as he walks into the restaurant. DC residents LOVE how safe the city has become under his leadership.”

The White House has not responded to requests for comment on the incident, but insiders say Chicago could become the next flashpoint in Trump’s expanding “law-and-order” campaign.

Analysts warn the growing protests — from DC to Gaza to Puerto Rico — signal a brewing storm as Trump doubles down on aggressive policies ahead of 2026’s midterms.

As Benjamin vowed Tuesday night, “We’ll be there every step of the way. Trump will not rule unchallenged.”
