Former President Bill Clinton has reignited concerns about his health after he and Hillary Clinton were spotted leaving the Hamptons with what appeared to be a portable defibrillator in tow.
The 79-year-old former president, who has a long history of heart problems, was photographed on Thursday carrying what looked like a Propaq MD Air Medical Bag — a lightweight transport monitor and defibrillator — as the couple prepared to board a private plane.

Clinton, dressed in a blue jacket and tan hat, was escorted by his security team, while Hillary wore a blue two-piece set layered with a black sweatshirt for the flight.

This latest sighting has raised fresh fears over the former president’s health, which has been under scrutiny for years. Clinton has suffered multiple medical scares, starting with a major heart attack in 2004 that led to emergency quadruple bypass surgery. Doctors at the time revealed he had a near-total blockage in several arteries and had narrowly avoided a potentially fatal cardiac event.

Since then, Clinton has faced several hospitalizations. In 2010, he was treated for chest discomfort and had a stent inserted. In 2021, he was hospitalized again after a urological infection spread to his bloodstream. And just last year, he was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital days before Christmas with the flu and discharged on Christmas Eve.
“President Clinton was discharged earlier today after being treated for the flu,” his former deputy chief of staff Angel Urena said at the time. “He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care and touched by the kind messages and well wishes.”
The sighting of the defibrillator comes as the Clintons are once again making headlines for other reasons. Both Bill and Hillary were subpoenaed earlier this month by the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into the government’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. Neither is accused of wrongdoing, but Bill is scheduled to testify on October 14, with Hillary set for October 9.
In his memoir released last year, Clinton admitted to flying on Epstein’s private jet but claimed he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and expressed regret over their association.
With a long medical history and a visible reliance on precautionary measures like a portable defibrillator, many are now worried about Clinton’s overall health heading into a high-profile fall — both personally and politically.
