Russian state media is celebrating what they describe as a historic “triumph” for Vladimir Putin after his Alaska summit with President Donald Trump — a meeting critics say left America humiliated on the world stage.
Despite being an indicted war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court, Putin was treated to a red-carpet reception on U.S. soil. The Russian leader was photographed laughing beside Trump as they shared a private ride in “the Beast,” the presidential limousine, with no American officials or interpreters present.
Kremlin propagandists are boasting that this brief limo ride changed the course of the war in Ukraine. “The summit in Alaska was triumphant for Putin,” declared Olga Skabeeva, host of the Russian state TV program 60 Minutes. “It blasted Russia out of isolation.”
Russian pundits went further, openly mocking the U.S. president for allegedly caving to Putin’s demands. “Who knows what they agreed on?” joked host Sergey Mardan. “Maybe he gave Trump a medal. Maybe he promised him a piece of Ukraine. The only conclusion is that America is stepping away from this war.”
Originally, Trump was scheduled to meet Putin only in the presence of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and several Kremlin aides. But the brief one-on-one limousine conversation — caught on video showing Putin smirking — now has both U.S. allies and lawmakers questioning what promises may have been made in secret.
According to Russian commentators, Trump has since pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to cede territories to Russia, with no reported concessions from Moscow. “It looks like Putin walked away with everything he wanted,” a senior European diplomat told Reuters. “And America walked away weaker.”
The mood in Moscow could not be more jubilant. State TV hosts, who often deride Trump as a “clown,” are now praising him as a “serious statesman.” Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov even urged Russian pundits to tone down the gloating, warning that U.S. media clips of their celebrations risk “angering Trump and pulling him the other way.”
Meanwhile, Russia’s hardline broadcaster Vladimir Solovyov delighted in the appearance of Vice President JD Vance at meetings with Zelensky and European leaders, pointing out that Vance “hates Zelensky” and “despises the Europeans.” The Kremlin clearly sees the Trump-Vance ticket as a strategic gift.
Back in Washington, Democrats wasted no time condemning the spectacle. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) called the summit “an embarrassment and a betrayal of American leadership,” adding, “Trump gave a wanted war criminal the keys to the Beast — and in doing so, gave him legitimacy.”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said the limo incident was “a gift-wrapped propaganda win for the Kremlin” and warned that Trump’s foreign policy is “making America complicit in Russia’s war crimes.”
Even some Republicans are privately uneasy. One senior GOP aide, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “There’s a sense Trump is being played — and he doesn’t even realize it.”
European allies are alarmed. Analysts warn that Trump’s about-face on sanctions and ceasefire demands threatens to fracture the transatlantic alliance. “Note that there is not one more word about ultimatums, sanctions, pressure, or the necessity for a ceasefire,” Solovyov bragged on state TV.
The Kremlin is urging Putin to “take advantage now,” recognizing this window may close with a new U.S. administration. “We will never be friends with America,” one Russian pundit said bluntly. “But under Trump, we can bend them to our will.”
For Putin, the summit was less about negotiations and more about optics: breaking out of isolation, appearing on equal footing with the U.S. president, and projecting dominance back home. For Trump, the images tell another story — one of America’s commander-in-chief chauffeuring a war criminal and possibly handing him the upper hand in Ukraine.
The unanswered question: What exactly was said in that limousine — and at what cost to America’s credibility abroad?

Wow huw easily democrats and the naive are swayed especially by Russian media. Anytime the media says based on anonymity usually means it’s a lie because there was no reason to not say what you feel publicly, and its an aide at that.
Putin is completely “isolated” now with all the rest of Europe currently in our White House (sans cocaine powder now)…
And, of course, Putin jumps at any opportunity to ride in a nonRussian clunker car…
Putin looks dishonest to me.
Scary for a little guy. He probably doesn’t trust Americans.
Very hard task for Trump trying to convince Putin of anything let alone peace.
We shall see. The Ruekies have not done so hot ,they have lost a lot of men and are recruiting from other countryies, not a sign of successful warfare . They need to pack up and get out of Dodge.
