President Donald Trump just lit a political firestorm — and this time, it’s not about immigration, NATO, or his latest Twitter feud. It’s about weed.
In a move that could shake up federal drug policy for the first time in decades, Trump is openly considering knocking marijuana off the government’s most restricted drug list. That means cannabis could be reclassified from Schedule I — where it sits alongside heroin — to Schedule III, the same category as prescription steroids and ketamine.
Trump hinted the decision could come within weeks. “We’re looking at reclassification… hopefully the right one,” he told reporters. “It’s a very complicated subject.”
For the hard-right, the reaction was immediate and volcanic.
“No country of potheads has ever thrived,” Daily Wire host Matt Walsh fumed online, insisting legal weed turns cities into “hellholes” overnight.
Podcaster Jack Posobiec warned that the change would mean “smelling weed anytime I take my kids anywhere.”
Conservative firebrand Michael Knowles took it further, branding marijuana “the liberal intoxicant of choice” and accusing the left of promoting “sloth” over “traditional pleasures” like tobacco and booze.
But not all Trump loyalists are screaming betrayal. Influencer Rogan O’Handley — known to millions as DC Draino — said the move could “undercut Big Pharma, Big Prison, and Big Alcohol.” Rising MAGA star CJ Pearson even called it a lifeline for veterans whose lives have been “transformed” by medical cannabis.
In a twist that will make the far-right choke, this process started under President Joe Biden. Trump’s administration is now deciding whether to finish what Biden began — a move that could open floodgates for a $30 billion cannabis industry and trigger a new wave of state-level reform.
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said all legal and policy factors are being weighed. “The only interest guiding the president’s policy decisions is what’s in the best interest of the American people,” she told [Outlet].
Right now, 24 states have fully legalized weed and 40 allow it for medical use. A Trump reclassification would not make cannabis legal nationwide — but it would loosen federal handcuffs, expand research, and make it far easier for legitimate businesses to operate.
For legalization advocates, it’s a potential game-changer. For MAGA hardliners, it’s a cultural surrender. And for Trump, it’s a political gamble that could either expand his appeal beyond the base — or ignite one of the biggest conservative rebellions of his presidency.

See that’s what most people don’t understand, Trump uses good old common sense! If 40 states have made it legal that’s more than enough for a constitutional amendment so it mights as well be legal! Why make people using or selling it under their State’s laws be subject to arrest under federal laws because of the supremacy clause of the constitution!
It it will need a prescription according to this article do what’s the big deal? There is none.
Personally I don’t and wouldn’t use it but I’m not standing in the way of adults using it or alcohol responsibly!
This classification was even questioned over 40 years ago. In our pharmacology course for Nursing School, many students (large class- UC auditorium) vehemently objected to pot being in the same classification with the more dangerous physically addictive drugs. The professor said that it was because it did not have a medical use.
It only took43 years, but they finally got to it.
So he can continue to use it He is crazy and wants to continue to ruin our country.

I looked into this a bit and the way I understand it marijuana was regularly used for a wide range of diseases especially in the 1700 and 1800’s. I’ve also heard it can be very helpful in dealing with the pain of cancer. I’m not sure if it will cure anything but it can also help with anxiety, depression and loss of appetite. You would have to watch out for taking too much, but if someone has cancer or something that is very painful, I’m all for it.
