President Donald Trump unleashed a fiery Truth Social rant on August 10, blasting former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a “disgusting degenerate” and accusing her husband, Paul Pelosi, of using insider information to rack up massive stock market profits. The tirade comes as Congress inches closer to passing a bipartisan ban on stock trading by lawmakers and their spouses.
Trump claimed Paul Pelosi “beat every hedge fund in 2024” thanks to “INSIDE INFORMATION,” mocking the couple’s investment success while reminding followers that Nancy Pelosi twice led impeachment efforts against him. He also taunted her directly: “How are you feeling now, Nancy???”
The legislation in question—once nicknamed the PELOSI Act before being rebranded as the HONEST Act—aims to eliminate conflicts of interest by preventing members of Congress and their spouses from buying, selling, or owning individual stocks. If passed, it could require forced divestitures from high-level officials.
Pelosi has publicly supported the bill, saying, “The American people deserve confidence that their elected leaders are serving the public interest, not their personal portfolios.” Her office has long denied Trump’s insider trading accusations, insisting she does not own any stocks and plays no role in her husband’s financial decisions. She has previously dismissed Trump’s claims as “ridiculous” and politically motivated.
Still, the numbers fueling this feud are hard to ignore. Financial disclosures show Paul Pelosi’s 2024 trades brought in an estimated 54 percent return—more than double the S&P 500’s gains and outperforming major hedge funds. His portfolio, valued at over $133 million last year, includes big-name tech stocks like Apple, Amazon, Google, and NVIDIA. Notable wins include a $2.4 million NVIDIA option that later skyrocketed and a Palo Alto Networks bet that delivered roughly $2.8 million in profit.
Their reported net worth climbed from around $370 million in 2023 to as high as $413 million in 2024. There’s even a “Pelosi Tracker” fund mimicking Paul’s trades that reportedly drew in over $400 million from investors last year after matching his stellar returns.
This isn’t the first time Trump has gone after members of his own party over the issue. In July, he blasted GOP Senator Josh Hawley—who sided with Democrats on the stock trading ban—as a “pawn” and “second-tier senator,” claiming the law is a political trap set by Democrats.
The Senate will now take up debate on the HONEST Act, but with Trump’s latest outburst, it’s clear this fight won’t just be about ethics—it’s going to be another bitter chapter in one of Washington’s longest-running political rivalries.
