As Elon Musk drops a cryptic accusation, Trump leans on a controversial legal voice from the past—and Democrats are demanding answers.

President Donald Trump is under fire once again—this time, not from Democrats, but from his former friend and tech titan Elon Musk. In a chaotic twist to their unraveling alliance, Musk accused Trump of being linked to Jeffrey Epstein in an incendiary post that sent shockwaves through Washington and social media alike.

On Thursday, Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter), claiming the real reason Epstein’s files haven’t been fully unsealed is because “Trump is in them.” He called it “the really big bomb,” and offered no proof.

The Trump team was quick to respond—not by addressing the claim directly, but by reposting a curious statement from David Schoen, the attorney who briefly represented Epstein before the financier’s mysterious death in 2019.

“I can say authoritatively, unequivocally, and definitively that [Epstein] had no information to hurt President Trump. I specifically asked him!” Schoen declared.

Trump amplified the quote on Truth Social, effectively using Epstein’s own defense attorney as a shield against Musk’s loaded accusation.

White House: Musk Meltdown or Political Power Play?

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre brushed off Musk’s allegation in a briefing Friday, calling it “an unfortunate episode for Elon” and suggesting the tech billionaire is reacting to behind-the-scenes policy battles with the Trump administration—particularly over Trump’s so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping deregulation package that reportedly gutted Musk’s federal incentives for clean tech.

But the deeper issue now facing the Trump White House is the resurfacing of his long—and well-documented—relationship with Epstein.

A Decades-Long Friendship Under a Spotlight

Trump’s ties to Epstein date back to the 1980s, when the two wealthy New Yorkers often traveled in the same elite social circles. Photos from the late ’90s show Trump alongside Epstein and his now-convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago and other high-profile events.

In a 2002 New York Magazine interview, Trump said Epstein “was a terrific guy” and that “he likes beautiful women as much as I do—many of them on the younger side.”

That same year, Epstein allegedly referred to Trump as his “closest friend for 10 years,” according to author Michael Wolff. The relationship eventually soured in the early 2000s, with Epstein later telling Wolff, “He’s a horrible human being.”

Despite Trump’s repeated claims of having distanced himself from Epstein, his name reportedly appears in connection with various documents and flight logs now under seal by the Justice Department.

Democrats Demand Full Epstein File Release

Musk’s bombshell has reignited Democratic calls for full transparency. On Friday, Senate Judiciary Committee members sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi demanding a timeline for the release of all Epstein-related materials—including flight records, guest logs, and internal FBI memos.

“Enough is enough,” said Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). “The American people deserve to know who was involved and who wasn’t. No more secrecy.”

Bondi, a former Florida attorney general and longtime Trump ally, has so far remained silent.

A Hesitant Promise on the Record

Trump previously promised to declassify Epstein records—along with documents related to 9/11 and the JFK assassination—during a 2024 Fox News interview. But when asked about Epstein specifically, Trump hedged.

“I guess I would,” he said. “I think that less so because… you don’t want to affect people’s lives if it’s phony stuff in there.”

That portion of the interview never aired on Fox, but was leaked by a former network producer to independent journalist Mehdi Hasan earlier this year.

No Charges—Yet

To date, Trump has not been formally accused of any criminal conduct related to Epstein. But Musk’s cryptic warning has put the president back under the microscope—and with pressure mounting from both ends of the political spectrum, the calls for truth are only getting louder.

The question now is simple: What’s in those files—and why haven’t we seen them yet?

  1. Always knew he was a sex freak but recent lawsuits and a 83 million jury verdict and we knew he was a pervert we saw that picture with Prince Andrew

  2. Trump and Musk are your typical high school bullies and should be attacked as such.  Even Musk realized that their run is over, so he has bailed!!  Typical of pubescent bullies, when confronted they look for others to come help them.  Since Trump\’s \”helpers\” can see the end, they have bailed.  so NOW is the time to take him down.Dr. Schlatter

  3. Reporters in those in the no, needs to add to the stuff that President Trump was supposed to have done they don’t even know yet. The big thing why don’t they put out the information that Epstein was on Trump‘s Mar-a-Lago and he was hitting on a young girl and Trump went directly over to him and told him that he had to leave right now and not to come back now we’ll see if this is ever brought up.

  4. Surly you people on next gen news don’t think of yourself as journalists? Trump is hiding behind a lawyer? What does that imply? Maybe you guys should be working for MSNBC.

  5. Why would President Trump demand release if he was on it? Really. Who is messing with the files besides democrats? I am not stupid. Why is democrats and musk all of a sudden so interested in files when they could have aired them years ago. This kind of stuff would have been out before 2016 if it was true. Tampering with evidence is a democrat thing not republicans. Democrats made sure the tampered evidence would be found by musk. Remember the Raid was a set up also. Everything is coming out about what all they did to President Trump and had to do something to distract like democrats are great at. Set up period. Democrats need to grow up. Democrats are just involving those in President Trump circle to make rift with them and President Trump. Republicans don’t buy into another hoax by democrats. It’s really sad musk allowed himself to bite their bait and do their dirty work for democrats. Deniability deniability deniability is what democrats understand. I thought musk smarter then that. Shows how scared democrats are of going to prison for treason. They have tried everything including assassination and failed. This is just down right dirty tricks and hoping it works. Democrats you are now exposed to all and those who fell in their traps are just suckers.
