Circus Worker Mauled by Tiger in Front of Shocked Audience (Video)

A horrifying scene unfolded at a circus in Tanta, Egypt, when a white tiger suddenly turned on a handler mid-performance, ultimately leading to the amputation of the man’s arm. The shocking incident, caught on video, quickly went viral online, showing the moment the tiger latched onto the man’s arm as panicked screams echoed from the audience.

The attack happened on Tuesday, April 1, during a live show in Tanta, a city situated between Cairo and Alexandria. According to reports from Al-Ahram and TMZ, the victim was rushed to Tanta University Emergency Hospital, where he underwent a four-hour surgery. Doctors were forced to amputate the arm above the elbow to save his life.

Following the attack, authorities took swift action. The Tanta Public Prosecutor’s office ordered an immediate suspension of all circus operations. Every animal involved with the Tanta circus is now being inspected, according to Egypt’s Veterinary Medicine Authority.

Investigators have already examined the accident site, reviewed surveillance footage, and spoken to the victim and several witnesses in the crowd.

Renowned animal trainer Anousa Kouta was present during the show and said the attack occurred after the man placed his arm inside the tiger’s enclosure. She confirmed that the animal will be removed from public performances and sent to Cairo for retraining.

Kouta also emphasized that no audience members were injured and all staff were safe following the incident. She reportedly stayed with the injured worker in the hospital to monitor his condition closely. The performance was halted immediately after the attack.

Neither Kouta nor Egypt’s General Organization for Veterinary Services responded to further media inquiries at the time of publication.
