A classified FBI team dedicated to investigating unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs, is bracing for potential upheaval as the Trump administration signals a shake-up within the agency. With a looming internal purge targeting agents involved in the Jan. 6 investigation, some within the clandestine UAP task force fear they may be collateral damage in the political battle.
A Hidden Team in the Crosshairs
The existence of this specialized group, informally referred to as the FBI’s UAP Working Group, has never been publicly acknowledged until now. According to sources, the task force has been operating discreetly for over a year, tracking unexplained aerial encounters and assisting national security efforts. However, their future is now uncertain as the FBI conducts an internal review, requiring agents to disclose any involvement in the Capitol riot probe.
One agent, speaking anonymously, expressed deep concern about the review’s implications. “This isn’t just about jobs—it’s about national security,” the agent said. “If we lose critical personnel, we risk setting back investigations into UAP incidents that could have serious consequences for aviation safety and intelligence gathering.”
Political Fallout and National Security Risks
The Trump administration has reportedly identified certain FBI employees for potential dismissal, particularly those who played a role in examining the Jan. 6 attack. Among them are agents from the UAP Working Group, some of whom had parallel assignments related to the Capitol investigation.
Ryan Graves, executive director of Americans for Safe Aerospace and a former Navy pilot, voiced his concerns. “I’ve spoken to multiple agents within the group, and they are alarmed,” Graves told Politico. “These individuals are conducting vital work, and dismantling their efforts due to political transitions would be a mistake.”
According to Graves, the UAP team includes a national program manager and a network of over a dozen personnel stationed across the country. Their mission is to analyze unexplained aerial encounters, often collaborating with other agencies to assess potential threats.
“This group is uniquely positioned within law enforcement and intelligence,” Graves added. “If these agents are forced out, it would severely undermine efforts to bring transparency to the UAP issue. The Trump administration has claimed it wants answers—removing these investigators does the opposite.”
FBI Remains Silent
Despite growing concerns, the FBI has declined to comment on the status of the UAP task force or its connection to the broader agency review. When pressed by Politico, an FBI spokesperson simply stated, “We do not comment on personnel matters.”
The lack of transparency has only fueled speculation. A former intelligence official familiar with the situation suggested that political maneuvering could stall UAP research indefinitely. “If key agents are removed, this work could be buried for years,” the official warned. “We’ve seen it happen before.”
For now, the fate of the FBI’s secret UFO task force remains uncertain. But for those within the agency, one question looms large: Will politics once again stand in the way of uncovering the truth?
