A tragic and unsettling incident in Delhi has left a family grappling with loss and unanswered questions. Anil, a 24-year-old cab driver, died on January 18 after his car was consumed by flames outside his ex-girlfriend’s wedding. His family believes there may have been foul play involved.

According to reports from local news outlets, including the Indian Express and Deccan Herald, police responded to several emergency calls around 11 p.m. that evening, reporting a Maruti Suzuki Wagon R engulfed in fire outside a banquet hall in East Delhi’s Gazipur area.

When bystanders attempted to rescue him by breaking the car’s windows, it was too late—Anil’s body was described as “charred beyond recognition.”

Sources shared with the Indian Express and Deccan Herald that Anil had once been romantically involved with the bride, but the relationship was not approved by her father. The officer further revealed that Anil had not fully moved on from the breakup. On the night of the wedding, he reportedly drove to the venue and somehow his car caught fire.

In a heartbreaking twist, Anil had been preparing for his own wedding just weeks later. He was out distributing invitations for his upcoming nuptials, set for February 14, just before the tragic incident unfolded.
