Christmas could take a major hit next year if Donald Trump reclaims the White House and implements his proposed tariff hike on China, warned tech mogul and “Shark Tank” investor Mark Cuban. Speaking with Vice President Kamala Harris in a recent YouTube interview, Cuban did not mince words.
“To me, Donald Trump is the Grinch who stole Christmas,” Cuban said directly to Harris. “This time next year, we’ll be thinking about gifts for our kids, and if Trump goes ahead with his 60% tariff on everything from China, prices are going up. That vision of a joyful Christmas for our families? Gone,” Cuban continued, echoing his long-standing opposition to Trump.
The former president and Republican frontrunner has been vocal about his commitment to significantly increasing tariffs on Chinese imports if elected. Under Trump’s plan, goods from China would see a steep 60% tariff, with a 10% to 20% tariff on imports from nearly every other nation.
For many families, this could mean serious financial strain during the holiday season. Recent analysis by The Tax Foundation finds that broad tariffs of this scale could cost the average American household over $2,600 per year, around 4.1% of annual income.
A Yale Budget Lab study offers a stark warning as well: tariffs of this magnitude would drive consumer prices up by 1.4% to 5.1%, cutting average disposable income by $1,900 to $7,600 per year. These numbers don’t even factor in potential inflationary effects or the Federal Reserve’s response to a sudden price spike.
Harris, also a staunch critic of Trump’s economic plans, weighed in during her conversation with Cuban, saying Trump is reckless when it comes to policy specifics. “He is applying a machete when a scalpel is what’s necessary,” Harris said, arguing that her own policies would “boost economic stability without inciting inflation or risking recession by next year.”
With tariffs and inflation concerns looming, Cuban’s message to American families was clear: a Trump presidency could mean holiday hardships and steep prices. In Cuban’s words, “Donald Trump just crushed it,” as families may be forced to cut back at the most festive time of year.

Mr. Cuban wants to keep China in business and do away with us. If rather not have a Christmas. I could worship Jesus without helping my enemies out.
