Bat Wielding Madman Invades Congressman’s Office (VIDEO)

A disturbing incident unfolded at the district office of Representative Gerry Connolly, D-Va., as a person armed with a baseball bat entered the premises and launched an attack on two members of his staff.

The congressman confirmed the incident and expressed his concern for the well-being of his team, who were promptly transferred to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As investigations continue, lawmakers and officials are highlighting the need to prioritize the safety and security of Members of Congress and their staff, particularly in the wake of increased instances of political violence.

According to Representative Connolly’s statement, an individual entered his District Office armed with a baseball bat and specifically sought him out before perpetrating an act of violence against two staff members.

The suspect is now in police custody, but further details about the attack, including the motives behind it, have not yet been disclosed. The injured staff members are receiving medical care, and Connolly expressed his gratitude to the City of Fairfax Police Department and emergency medical professionals for their swift response.

Representative Connolly emphasized the accessibility of his staff to constituents and the public, making the act of violence against them all the more distressing. The incident underscores the need for enhanced security measures and precautions to protect Members of Congress and their staff, as mentioned by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.

In a show of solidarity, Jeffries extended the full support of the House Democratic Caucus to Connolly and his team. The safety of public servants remains a paramount concern, particularly in light of the recent surge in political violence.

Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle expressed their shock and concern following the attack. Senator Mark Warner, D-Va., labeled the incident as extraordinarily disturbing and extended his thoughts to the injured staff members. Representative Don Beyer, D-Va., also voiced his worry and sent his best wishes to Connolly and his team for their swift recovery.

These expressions of solidarity highlight the importance of unity in condemning acts of violence and fostering a safe working environment for public servants.

The attack serves as a reminder of the security challenges faced by Members of Congress, especially in the aftermath of the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Lawmakers have expressed ongoing concerns about the safety of their offices and homes, as evidenced by previous incidents like the attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the shooting of Republican lawmakers during a congressional baseball practice in 2017.

  1. In light of the authorities not disclosing the attackers political associations, I am concluding the A-hole was just another leftist kook! If he were a republican they would be screaming that fact from the rafters!

    1. I thought the exact same thing when I read that they are not disclosing a motive. Amazing how Congress wants more security but when people are attacked and beaten on trains and street they want to defund the police typical hypocrites
