Hooters Waitress Left in Tears After Reading Message Customer Left on $600+ Bill

A Hooters waitress has taken to social media to reveal how a customer made her cry after racking a bill over $600.

In a video posted to TikTok by user @keylamxo, she starts by explaining: “Here’s one of the many times that a customer made me cry while I worked at Hooters.”

The 21-year-old revealed in her post that one of her tables that fateful day was a girl she used to go to high school with and her family, who were all celebrating the dad’s birthday.

Keylamxo continues: “The mom came in and she’s like, ‘Oh, bring us a round of Don Julio, we’re drinking good today, it’s my husband’s birthday.’”

Explaining that Don Julio was $18 per shot, Keylamxo says that the family ended up having 25 shots in total, along with “a bunch of food”. But when the mom asked for the check and finally saw that the family had racked up a $624 bill, the family’s mom tells the waitress: “If you would have told me the tab was this high, maybe you would have gotten a tip.”

Recalling the uncomfortable situation she found herself in, Keylamxo says: “Like ma’am I just work here, I am not pocket-watching, I do not know how much is in your bank account. Maybe you shouldn’t go out to eat if you can’t f**king afford to.”

Prior to leaving the restaurant, the waitress reveals how a member of the party sprayed ketchup over over table and then spilled all the drinks. And if the attitude and mess wasn’t enough, when Keylamxo checked the bill, she saw that instead of leaving a tip on the considerable amount, she was left a message reading: “F*** You”, along with a drawing of a middle finger.

“[She] tipped me nothing – that’s why I cried,” the waitress says.

As always when it comes to these stories, people in the comments section were vehemently divided over tipping culture within the food industry:

In a follow-up video, Keylamxo revealed that after she informed her regular customers of what happened the following day, two of them left her tips of $100 and $110, respectively.

Hopefully, that was enough to restore her faith in humanity. Remember: Tip your servers!

      To use the f word is uncalled for. I will never reward or respect anyone who thinks that they can’t speak unless that word is used. I have heard people ask where the fn bathroom is. Uncalled for
      Speak English, no curse,slang, English is a language not a suggestion. Sorry and I worked food service for 30 years. After that speech I would not of left a tip

    This family should just stay home and celebrate birthdays. After being told that the shots were $18 and then ordering 25 of them over the evening plus food they knew the bill would be high. They should be ashamed of themselves not tipping this girl, I would guess they were a lot of work. Then to leave a mess like they did shows how classless they are, too bad the restaurant can’t send them a bill. I always tip usually 20% sometimes 25% if they are really nice and helpful. I think if you don’t want to tip you should go to some fast food place.

      My husband and I were out to dinner a couple of years ago. Across from us was a table of 4 who had their meals comped. They told each other they didn’t need to leave a tip since they meal was comped. Hello!!! The meal did not jump onto their table by itself. My husband and I had the same server and found out what the cheapskates would have been charged. We added a 20% tip to their meal and 20% to ours. You just cannot fix stupid.

      Most places of any value have an 18% Gratuity for parties over 8 that can be added to the bill just in case you get cheapskates like the ones mentioned. I have been a server for over 30 years and honestly, I had never run across anyone like this. Thank goodness.

    I worked in the service biz for years, both as a server and as a bartender. Anyone who eats out should know that most of us work for minimum wage, which is barely a living wage. We strive to give you good service, be kind and pleasant, and make sure you have an enjoyable stay in our establishment. We also work long, hard hours and are on our feet most of the time. Likewise, people who eat out should know that tips are expected and appreciated. A tip of 15% is normal these days. Many people tip more than that – most of them either were in the business themselves or have family who were or are. My advice is that if you cannot afford to tip, you should buy groceries and eat at home.
    At the very least, if you eat and drink in expensive cocktail lounges and restaurants, know ahead of time that proper etiquette means expecting to leave your server a decent tip.

    Servers are NOT necessarily paid minimum wage. The Federal minimum cash wage for a “tipped” employee is $2.13. They are expected to make up the rest in tips! If you can’t tip a decent amount, don’t eat out. You are cheating people out of their livelihood.

    my mom waited on tables at a boarding house in upstate New York, while I was a youngster.
    a grown family with children, spouses and grandchildren, stayed for 2 weeks, 3 meals a day for everyone, besides asking to warm baby food, etc, oh and my mom was also their chamber maid so making the beds , cleaning their rooms and bathrooms
    When they left, my mother was given a $5.00 tip.
    I don’t blame the patrons.
    Businesses should not expect their clientele to pay the salaries of their workers!
    Raise the food prices, pay your workers a decent wage , or don’t open a service restaurant, hotel, etc.
    Tipping is just getting ou of hand.

    Perhaps it is time to require that all wages within the United States borders, including farm and service jobs, to match or exceed the Federal minimum wage. Publish the information widely in the news, so the buying public knows it. People may quit feeling sorry for these underpaid servers, and then start tipping based on quality of service. Ten percent of the total bill was once a decent tip, and should be again.
