A New York City grandmother who vanished during a trip to Las Vegas has been found dead nearly two weeks later — with surveillance footage reportedly capturing her final heartbreaking moments.
Alisa Goods, 63, of Brooklyn, disappeared on Aug. 8 while visiting a longtime friend near the Las Vegas Strip.
Her body was discovered 12 days later in a drainage ditch area near Harry Reid International Airport, bringing a devastating end to the desperate search for the mother of five.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, surveillance footage showed Goods falling down an embankment on the day she disappeared.
She was then seen getting back up before collapsing again.
Police told KTNV that there was “no further movement observed after that.”
Authorities eventually located Goods’ body around 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 20. Investigators said the area where she was found could not be seen from the street, which may help explain why she remained undiscovered for so long.
Goods had traveled to Las Vegas to visit Roger John, a friend she had known for about 20 years.
She reportedly left his apartment near the Strip intending to shop at a CVS but never returned.
John was not considered a suspect and helped with efforts to find Goods during the nearly two-week search.
Her worried family had also revealed that Goods recently underwent several surgeries on her legs, raising additional concerns about her condition while she was missing.
After receiving the devastating news Thursday, relatives said they were struggling to process the loss.
“Our hearts are broken. We were notified that my aunt was found — unfortunately, not the way we wanted her to be,” her niece, Alana Calloway, said in a statement.
Calloway described the ordeal as an “unimaginable time” for the family and thanked members of the public and media who helped spread the word during the search.
“This hurts so deeply,” she said. “We are still trying to learn the details surrounding her death.”
Police have not announced an official cause or manner of death.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Goods’ final hours.
