Trump Slammed Over AI Video with George Washington

President Donald Trump is facing fresh criticism after posting a bizarre AI-generated video that imagines George Washington touring his controversial plans for a massive White House ballroom.

The video, shared by Trump on social media, shows artificial intelligence versions of Trump and America’s first president walking through a rendering of the proposed ballroom, appearing to chat, nod and point approvingly at different parts of the project.

Trump suggested Washington would have been impressed.

“Thank you, George, for some of your brilliant ideas on this great Military Complex/Ballroom! President DJT,” Trump captioned the post.

But the unusual presidential fantasy quickly sparked backlash, with critics calling the video disturbing and questioning why Trump was using AI to portray a long-dead Founding Father seemingly endorsing one of his most controversial construction projects.

“I find this disturbing,” one person wrote.

Another critic mocked the president over the strange clip, while a third argued that Washington would hardly have approved of Trump’s plans.

“George Washington would be appalled at this ballroom and disgusted with this guy,” the person wrote.

The backlash comes as Trump’s ambitious White House ballroom project remains tied up in a major legal battle.

Trump first announced plans for the ballroom off the White House’s East Wing on July 31, 2025, with construction beginning that September.

But the project quickly ran into trouble.

In April 2026, a federal district judge issued a preliminary injunction stopping above-ground construction. Trump’s administration challenged the decision, but an appeals court panel upheld the order blocking the work.

At the heart of the fight is whether Trump can move ahead with such a major alteration to the historic White House complex without approval from Congress.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation has challenged the project, arguing that the administration cannot simply bypass the usual approval process.

Trump’s team, however, insists the project is about far more than lavish parties.

The administration has argued that the ballroom would be part of an integrated military and security complex designed to provide a safer space for major events amid repeated threats against the president.

Solicitor General D. John Sauer called the court order blocking construction “extraordinary and unlawful,” arguing that the new complex would include a “totally secure ballroom space” that is “vitally required by national security.”

The National Trust for Historic Preservation has until Aug. 18 to respond to the administration’s latest effort to restart construction.

Even Hillary Clinton has acknowledged that the White House could use more room for hosting large events.

But the former first lady and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee has blasted the way Trump has pursued the project without congressional approval — and has been even less complimentary about his taste in décor.

During an appearance on Pivot with Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway, Clinton compared Trump’s fondness for elaborate gold decorations to the palaces she saw in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

“When I was in Baghdad after the fall of Saddam Hussein, I had meetings, I was then a senator, I had meetings in some of his palaces and they were quite reminiscent of what we are seeing in our own White House,” Clinton said.

“It’s just insane.”

Trump, meanwhile, appears determined to keep promoting his ballroom vision — even if that means using artificial intelligence to recruit George Washington as his latest imaginary supporter.
