Trump Predicts AOC Will Make a White House Run as 2028

President Donald Trump believes one of his fiercest political rivals could soon be aiming for the biggest job in Washington.

Trump predicted that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will run for president as speculation continues to build around the 36-year-old New York Democrat and her plans for 2028.

Asked by Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams whether he thought Ocasio-Cortez would eventually launch a presidential campaign, Trump didn’t hesitate.

“I think so,” the president said during a Friday visit to Long Island.

But Trump quickly turned the conversation into an attack on AOC and other progressives, accusing them of trying to soften or distance themselves from positions that could prove damaging with voters nationwide.

“If you really look at it, they’re all saying the same thing,” Trump said, arguing that Democrats are now attempting to walk away from controversial positions involving crime and sanctuary cities.

Trump particularly zeroed in on sanctuary-city policies, an issue he has repeatedly used to hammer Democrats over immigration and public safety.

“I think you’re going to see sanctuary cities start to end, because sanctuary cities are a disaster,” Trump said, before pointing to Ocasio-Cortez’s past support for the policies.

The president’s comments come as Ocasio-Cortez finds herself under an increasingly intense national spotlight — and amid growing speculation that the progressive firebrand may be looking beyond her House seat.

AOC has not announced a presidential campaign, but her political future has become a major topic as Democrats begin looking toward 2028. Axios reported that her recent burst of viral appearances and social-media activity has only intensified speculation about a possible presidential or Senate bid.

That speculation exploded further after Ocasio-Cortez made the unusually personal decision to document her egg-freezing journey publicly.

“Normally, I keep my private life quite private,” she told followers while explaining that she had decided to freeze her eggs.

Ocasio-Cortez said the decision was about having greater control over her future and helping other women feel less intimidated by fertility decisions that are often discussed behind closed doors.

The congresswoman also addressed what she sees as a glaring double standard facing women with ambitious careers.

“This is not something men deal with,” she said, noting that male politicians and job candidates rarely face the same questions about their age, fertility or plans to start a family.

“This is a choice I am making to feel more in control of my life,” she added.

Her openness has triggered reactions from across the political spectrum, ranging from praise for bringing attention to reproductive health to conservative criticism over her decision to delay motherhood. Some Republicans, however, have also publicly defended her right to make the deeply personal choice.

Whether any of it is connected to a future campaign remains speculation.

But one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Ocasio-Cortez is no longer being discussed solely as the outspoken progressive congresswoman who burst onto the national stage in 2018.

Now even Trump is publicly talking about her as a potential presidential contender — potentially setting up one of the most closely watched Democratic battles of 2028 before the race has even officially begun.
