Donald and Melania Trump may still appear together at major public events, but behind closed doors, the president and first lady are reportedly living very different lives.

According to Trump biographer Michael Wolff, the couple maintain separate private spaces, contrasting lifestyles and what he described as “parallel lives” that rarely seem to overlap.

The claims are once again fueling years of speculation about the state of their marriage — including rumors that the pair could eventually split once their latest stay in Washington comes to an end.

Donald, 80, and Melania, 56, have long been reported to use separate bedrooms at the White House.

Wolff now claims the arrangement extends to Trump Tower in New York City, where the couple allegedly occupy separate apartments.

Even when Donald, Melania and their son Barron lived inside the building’s lavish three-story penthouse, Wolff said the couple’s decorating preferences showed just how different they were.

“Trump’s space in Trump Tower is gilded and ornate — Trump kitsch,” Wolff wrote on Substack.

“Melania’s is spare, sleek, beige. Parallel lives.”

Donald’s taste is famously heavy on gold, marble and extravagant furnishings. Melania, by comparison, reportedly prefers a quieter and more modern look.

During a 2016 Fox News tour of the penthouse, Melania appeared hesitant when asked whether the elaborate decor reflected her personal taste.

“It’s my taste,” she said, adding that she had redecorated some pieces while others were original to the home.

Melania has also faced repeated questions about how much time she actually spends at the White House.

After Donald won the 2024 election, an unnamed source claimed Melania wanted to maintain the same level of privacy she reportedly enjoyed during her husband’s first administration.

“It was no secret that Donald stayed in the White House master suite and Melania occupied a two-room suite on the third floor during their first go-round there,” the insider claimed.

The source predicted the couple would return to a similar arrangement during Donald’s second term.

Melania has also been noticeably absent from a number of political events, fueling speculation that she prefers to remain far away from the constant chaos surrounding her husband’s presidency.

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania’s former friend and senior adviser, has offered an especially harsh assessment of the relationship.

“I do believe it’s a transactional marriage,” Wolkoff previously claimed.

According to Wolkoff, Donald gained a glamorous wife, while Melania gained decades of wealth, status and opportunity.

Another unnamed insider went even further, alleging that Melania finds her husband “revolting.”

Neither Donald nor Melania has publicly confirmed the claims.

Wolff has openly questioned whether the couple may already be separated in everything but name.

During an appearance on 60 Minutes Australia, Wolff recalled asking a person allegedly close to the Trumps what was happening inside their marriage.

According to Wolff, the source gave a brutally blunt response, claiming Melania “hates” Donald.

Wolff also pointed to Donald’s highly publicized history involving other women and argued that the president’s personality may have driven an even deeper wedge between the couple.

“Other than the fact he has a long history of relationships with other women,” Wolff said, before describing Trump as someone who rarely listens to anyone — including, possibly, his own wife.

Donald and Melania have now been married for more than 20 years, and they continue to appear together for select official occasions.

But as reports of separate bedrooms, separate apartments and separate lifestyles continue to surface, speculation about what is really happening inside their marriage shows no sign of disappearing.
