Rosie O’Donnell Says ABC Banned Her from Singing ‘Trump Song’

Rosie O’Donnell was ready to unleash a vicious musical takedown of President Donald Trump on late-night television — but network bosses reportedly slammed the brakes on the idea.

The outspoken comedian revealed that she wanted to perform an anti-Trump parody while guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! during the week of August 17. However, she claims she was told the politically charged number could not be cleared for broadcast.

O’Donnell discussed the controversy during Monday’s episode of On with Kara Swisher, explaining that the parody was set to “If I Only Had a Brain,” the Scarecrow’s famous song from the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz.

“I have been told I’m not allowed to do that,” O’Donnell said, leaving Swisher visibly surprised.

“They couldn’t get permission for the parody because it’s political content,” she added.

But O’Donnell was not about to let the song disappear quietly.

When Swisher asked her to perform a few lines, the longtime Trump critic immediately launched into the biting lyrics.

“His approval rate is 30 / His diaper’s always dirty / I think the guy’s insane / He ain’t no stable genius / Got a teeny tiny penis / And he doesn’t have a brain,” O’Donnell sang.

The crude parody has already sparked anger among Trump’s MAGA supporters.

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro devoted part of his podcast to attacking the song, accusing O’Donnell of believing Americans needed to hear her rewrite Wizard of Oz lyrics to make jokes about the president’s anatomy.

Shapiro declared that the lyrics were “bad” and called the performance “tone-deaf.”

The backlash is only the latest chapter in O’Donnell’s bitter, decades-long feud with Trump.

Their public war began when O’Donnell was a co-host on The View and criticized Trump’s business practices and personal behavior. Trump responded with a string of personal insults, and the two have continued trading attacks through interviews, television appearances and social media posts ever since.

Their feud became even more intense following Trump’s political comeback.

O’Donnell left the United States ahead of his second inauguration, while Trump later suggested that her American citizenship could be revoked — a move legal experts have said a president cannot simply carry out against a natural-born citizen.

Trump has also shared a meme showing multiple photos of O’Donnell labeled as different stages of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Now, O’Donnell is preparing to take over the show of another one of Trump’s most prominent late-night enemies.

Kimmel has repeatedly mocked Trump, his administration and the MAGA movement, prompting the president to publicly demand that ABC and its parent company, Disney, fire him.

Trump renewed those demands in April after Kimmel made a joke involving first lady Melania Trump.

“Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,” Trump wrote in a lengthy Truth Social post.

Kimmel has refused to back down, and O’Donnell said she intends to honor his willingness to challenge the president when she steps behind his desk.

“I plan on doing whatever we can and working with the writers and his team and honoring just how brave and bold he has been,” she told Swisher. “I admire him greatly.”

O’Donnell has previously defended Kimmel in far harsher language.

After the late-night host was temporarily suspended last September, she posted an angry message on Instagram condemning the Trump administration and corporate executives she accused of bowing to political pressure.

Kimmel’s decision to select O’Donnell as a guest host appears designed to irritate the president — and he has made little effort to hide it.

“We have assembled a potent group of hosts to fill in for me,” Kimmel announced in June.

“As a special treat for our commander in chief, I asked one of his all-time favorites — Rosie O’Donnell — to be here to keep the hits coming.”

He then added one final jab aimed directly at Trump.

“You’re welcome.”
